Can't Figure Out How to Set Up Scanner on Brother MFC-7840W

I have a macbook (OSX 10.5.8) and recently bought a Brother four-in-one. Everything works great, except the scanner. It appears the device does not come with scanning software. The manual simply says "run your mac TWAIN-compliant application." I don't know if I have a mac TWAIN-compliant application and i don't know how to check. I also don't know where to get one if I don't have it. I have done some google research and searched these forums, but have come up empty handed. Can anybody help?

Thanks!

I forgot to mention that I am connected to the printer wirelessly. I tried a few things, but still have not had success.

1. Image Capture will find my "devices", but won't let me connect them. From the "Device Browser" window, I click on "use TWAIN UI" next to the brother printer and a scan dialog box comes up, but when I hit the "Scan" button nothing happens.

2. Brother makes some software called "Presto Page Manager" that will scan, but I am having problems scanning multiple-page documents. Page Manager accepts the scan, but scans of multi-page documents result in multiple one-page tiff files. I would like to scan to pdf and have all the pages appear as ONE pdf document. Scanning to pdf does not appear to be an option on Page Manager.

Does anybody have any suggestions?

Thanks!
