processor context corrupt?

In the ongoing series that is my macbook becoming a brick, I have come across this kernel panic today, which states something about "processor context corrupt". Can someone explain anything here to me?

It's entirely random. Producing it has no sensible reason right now, it just randomly happens. Apple hardware test says everything's fine. I've done a bazillion configurations, permissions repairs, cache cleanings, PMU resets, PRAM zaps, everything in the book, literally, and I still can't trust this machine at all anymore.

Near as I can tell, it's probably head related. I'm glad this four year old machine is turning into a paperweight.

There is a possibility errors are being written into software
on the hard disk drive (due to?) or corruption there has
gotten so bad the computer's processor can't read/write
anything saved in temp files without errors.

If you have a real Apple Store with Genius Bar in your
state, you could see about getting an appointment there
and taking in the computer for someone to check it over.
Then, if they suggest a course of action after looking into
it (at that stage, often for free) you could have some ideas
on what to try &/or do next. My state has no genius bar or
any real Apple Stores; only some resellers, whose claim to
"specialist" is a tedious thread to credibility at best.

There is a possibility, given the age of that computer, the
internal hard disk drive may be severely compromised or
somehow worn out to the point of creating damaged files.
You may be able to get a free DIY manual online from the
iFixit.com site for your series of MacBook model and then
do a hard disk drive replacement by yourself.

However, without a suitable backup, restoring your old user
account and other data from the original hard disk drive may
be a headache zone. If the old drive were somewhat service-
able, it could be placed into an external enclosure, and may
be accessed to attempt the Migration assistant process.

But, again, if the system in the original drive is the same one,
having only seen updates over whatever OS it shipped with,
things could only look better if the drive were the problem &
if you replaced it with a suitable new HDD; and all new OS X.

A completely new install on a new replacement drive may do it.
Your other thread appears to have a lot to do with the same thing.

Sometimes, bad hardware including a failing hard drive could be
part of a situation resulting in some odd happenings & kernel panic
or other stuff. However, if the logic board or processor is part of a
larger situation, trial and error would be one way to find out more.

Hopefully something better can come from these problems.
Good luck & happy computing! 🙂

I'm perfectly used to dealing with hard disk corruption and things of that like causing computer issues. What I'm not used to is the entirely random and stupid manner in which this machine crashes. The fact that there are so many factors, each of which basically leads to costly replacement, makes me want to put this machine out a window. Yes, I have a genius bar. No, they're not Geniuses, and no, they haven't helped me, ever, and in all their non-helping, my applecare has worn out, so now I'd only be able to spend thousands of dollars on an outdated machine anyway, right?

While under AppleCare plan coverage, was your computer's issue(s)
give an "incident number" or other reference number by Apple?

If a problem was referred to AppleCare while the plan was in effect
and the issue or cause was not resolved, you could refer back to that
incident or repair order number & ask that the same issue be revisited.

Even if that AppleCare plan has since expired, if you have records of
the problem being assigned a reference number under AppleCare,
you can try and see if you can get someone to review this situation.

Sometimes, it may be worth a call (and payment) to AppleCare to
revisit an issue to get them to address it again, directly; sometimes
if the Genius bar routine was less than satisfactory, a more direct
attempt at resolving an issue needs to be made. A call and online
chat with AppleCare and by-pass a local resale outlet.

Sorry that your experience has been less than spectacular in this matter;
and I know what it is like to find disappointment in a product and learn a
hard truth about some products when they have a problem and don't get
a forthright resolution in a timely manner.

You may need to also consider finding out more, about the computer
you have and if there were any repair extensions or known issues in
the model, that may warrant revisiting these issues and asking Apple
to consider the merits of your situation & experience, to help fix it.

Hopefully this can find a suitable resolution.
Good luck & happy computing! 🙂

I paid the $300 or whatever to extend my applecare. I was in and out multiple times to have the machine looked at, and likely, there was a reference number. I have paperwork of when parts were replaced, such as my bluetooth antenna, superdrive, etc.

However, I can't know for sure if there are ref. numbers for the times I went in and was told "it's fine", over and over again, only to find out that, no, it's not fine.

I haven't been able to reinstall OSX or deal with this issue, much, simply because, I have too much work to do. If the idiot bar will revisit the issue and help resolve it, I'll be grateful. However, being that I doubt that they will, I absolutely WILL NOT pay them any money to work on my machine. They should have fixed it in the first place, and I'm ****** off that they brushed me off so many times, and now I'm high and dry without applecare.
