Error when installing iTunes

While trying to install iTunes on my laptop, I'm being hit with an error that reads

"An error occurred during the installation of assembly 'Microsoft.VC80.CRT,version="8.0.50727.4053",type="win32,publicKeyToken="1fc8b3 b9a1e18e3b",processorArchitecture="x86". Please refer to Help and Support for more information. HRESULT: 0x800736b3.

Any help with the issue would be very appreciated.

These ones are related to underlying problems with the PC that can also cause problems with downloading Windows Updates. So my main strategy with them is to try to treat the Windows Update failures, which can clear up the iTunes installation trouble +en passant.+

Head into Windows Update and open your Update History. Have updates been failing for you recently? If so, doubleclick on the failure records to bring up a small box with more information. What error codes have you been getting for the Windows Update failures? Are they also 0x800736b3 or something different? If they are different, what codes have you been getting?

The error codes I'm seeing are mostly 8007000B and some 643.

🙂 Many thanks.

Let's try the following document with that one:

[Windows Update error 8007000b|http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Windows-Update-error- 8007000b]

Does that get your Windows Update working again? If so, stock up on stuff you're behind on there, and then try another iTunes install. Does that go through properly this time?
