Problems moving emails from one mailbox to another

I can't seem to move emails from one mailbox to another. When I hit the little icon to move the message, it tells me to click on the mailbox that I want to move it to. However, over on the left where the inbox is, the section where the mailboxes are is grayed out. Can anybody tell me how to get this done? I followed the instructions, but the mailboxes are not where they are supposed to be.

iMac(Intel), MacBook Pro, MacMini, Ipad, Ipod, Mac OS X (10.6.3)

All server stored mailboxes with an IMAP account should be available for transferring a recieved or sent message to.

There are no server stored mailboxes available with a POP account. The only mailboxes available with a POP account are the following:

Inbox
Drafts
Sent
Trash

The last 3 mailboxes will not be created until the function is used by the account. Which mailbox are you trying to transfer a message to with the POP account?
