Smart Playlist Order

The playlists on my phone (namely "recently added") are not showing up in the correct order. I have it set on my itunes library to always be in order of most recently added, but nothing seems to make it want to load that way on my iphone. I've tried "copy to play order" on the itunes library and re-syncing the phone several times. Any ideas how to get a specific order of songs to remain on the phone?

note: i'm not manually managing the music on my phone because i like having the genius playlists on there.
