Sync Contacts from iPhone to MacBook

Via iTunes it is possible to sync Contacts from the Address Book in the MacBook, to the iPhone.
I want to do the contrary: sync (backup) Contacts from my iPhone to Address Book on the MacBook.
I have found explanations how to sync from iPhone to MobileMe, but this does not achieve the results I want to reach. I must be missing something. Thanks in advance and sorry for the hassle.

To sync contacts from the iPhone to the Mac, if you have different contacts in both, if you try and sync, you are given the opportunity to merge the two. If you do not have any contacts in the address book on the Mac and attempt to sync, it will erase the contacts on the phone. If you select to sync to the Mac, you need to ensure that you have one unique contact on the Mac that does not exist on the iPhone. It can be a fake, as you can delete it after the sync. When you go to sync, you will be prompted if you want to merge, select that and the two will be the same.

The syncing of contacts with a supported application on your computer is a bi-directional or true sync process.

There is an option under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences to replace contacts on your iPhone with what is available in the supported application on your computer selected to sync contacts with, but there is not an option to do this in the opposite direction.

You want to replace your Address Book contacts on your Mac with what is available on your iPhone - is this the result you want?

If so, delete all contacts from the Address Book on your Mac except for one contact. If you have never synced your iPhone contacts with the Address Book on your Mac, you will be provided a merge prompt with the first sync, which you want to select. If you have synced contacts with the Address Book on your Mac, delete all contacts from the Address Book on your Mac except for one contact followed by a sync.
