When I assign a button on my MIDI keyboard as a key command in Logic (for example, the c12 button on my MIDI keyboard is assigned as the "next plug-in setting" command), it works fine, but when I turn my midi keyboard off, the midi key command no longer works when I turn the keyboard back on. What am I doing wrong? Is there as way to save everything, so the key command will always be assigned? I am using a USB M-audio 02 midi controller.
Thanks for any help.

Hi Jack
Sounds like it might be a problem with the way OSX handles midi port info. In logic - open the controller assignments window and look at the midi port info associated with the key command in question. If it says 'any' as opposed to say 'midi port 1' then chances are OSX is not remembering the right usb port info every time you turn the keyboard off and on again. This is a known problem and at this point - as far as I know - there isn't a solution - hopefully 10.6.4 addresses this. The only option I know of is to manually reset the port info in the controller assignments window.

Thanks CT1011.
WOW, is a step backward for Logic? As long as I can remember, I have been able to do such a simple thing.
How long has this been a problem?
Not sure exactly. Didn't notice it when using Logic 8 and Leopard. Then after some time away from my midi controller - and after upgrading to Snow Leopard and Logic 9 - problems.
Here's to hoping Apple fix this ASAP!
Im having exact same problem. Midi settings learn fine in both the pref key command section and in the controller assignments window and all works. saved to a template and all works fine until i unplug my midi keyboard (axiom 49). once i plug back in again and load up logic all is forgotten. previously the assignments have still been visible but just not working, this time all assignments seem to have disappeared from both the template and tracks written and saved seperately from the template. someone needs to sort this out!!
