Authorized carrier unlocking question

All,

My carrier has recently sent my iPhone IMEI into Apple for authorized unlocking of the phone. I am wondering how I get the unlock to take effect? Do I just sync my phone with iTunes or do I need to "restore" my phone and then sync with iTunes in order for the unlock to take effect?

Hi Allan - thanks for the prompt reply. Carrier didn't really specify and that's the problem. I know that they sent my IMEI in, but they can't seem to give me a straight answer on whether I just sync, or whether I need to restore and sync.

According to http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1937, Orange Uganda does not sell locked phones.

Hi Tamera - this article is the primary reason why I purchased from orange ug. Come to find out after the purchase that the phones are actually locked to orange. So after a battle the finally agreed to unlock which is what I am waiting on now.

Apple don't unlock the phone, the carrier does.

I got my O2 iPhone unlocked by O2, no interaction with Apple was required.

You need to restore.. Just remember to sync all your information before you restore. So you don´t loose anything 🙂
