Q: Files randomly vanish after copying to Windows SMB share
I have a little problem with my network that I cannot figure out.
I have a home network consisting of two PCs that are used solely for serving media to our three Macs, Apple TV and iPods. The PCs are set up with standard Windows 7 file sharing (SMB shares) and I have no trouble seeing them, reading from them or streaming media from them.
The problem is when I am trying to copy files from my Mac to the PC through our network. Say I select a group of seven files, and drag and drop them... the files ALL copy, but as soon as Finder starts generating thumbnails for the files, SOME of them will SOMETIMES disappear.
If I copy two files at a time, sometimes one of the two files will vanish AFTER copying.
The files just vanish. I have taken to copying files one at a time to avoid the issue, because if I do it like that, they never disappear.
Any ideas? This makes copy files on our network very tedious, especially when I have 50-60 files to do.
Thanks!
