Question

How do I restore BACKED UP DATA to my iPhone. SYNC only reinstalls apps.

This is pathetic APPLE. The iTune BACKUP backs up apps and data. SYNC only restores the apps. Pure stupidity.

3Gs, iPhone OS 3.1.3

Then why not *Restore from backup* instead of trying to Sync?

Does "restore from backup" allow me to restore DATA for a SINGLE APP that I've reinstalled? Not according to what I've read but maybe I'm not reading the correct thing. Apple needs to create a HELP topic on "restoring a single app WITH data". If restore from backup is the correct method, that method should allow you to select what apps and data you want restored, NOT everything that was backed up. This is really simple but APPLE makes this a complete nightmare.

I understand very clearly the topic.
Regardless of what you want or think, it does not do what you want.
Please go read definitions of Sync and Restore and Backup.
I didn't "put words in your mouth".
Then send suggestions to Apple if you want them to implement your suggestions since they do not currently exist.
