f.a.m.p.s. mattel software

I noticed this archived discussion here:
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=10760532&#10760532
and we got these toys for our kids on clearance at Target and here is what is happening to me:

1.You put the CD in and it links to a website to ask you to download the software, no problems there, downloaded it with ease.
2. Once downloaded, you click on the installer, enter your password, it shows a brief splash screen of the game:

and then goes to this error message:

So I contacted Mattel, makers of the product, and they are telling me this is a FIREWALL error. Yes, I said that right, a firewall error. Well, I have two Intel iMacs, one wireless which I am trying this on and the other ethernet connected. I turned off the firewalls on both, turned off the firewall on my Airport Extreme, same issue happening. I have called them three times and they always tell me it is a Firewall issue, I have told them I downloaded the software, so there is no firewall issue there, but they still say it is. I finally ask to speak to a manager (why don't the managers ever want to talk to you?) and they had the person (not the manager) ask me more questions, again they said Firewall, I said it can't be, I even tried plugging the iMac directly into my cable modem. So they are going to contact the developer of the software and tell them the issue.
Am I wrong, shouldn't the company have at least ONE mac person on their support staff that knows a little something about the product? There is NO WAY this is a firewall issue, and if it is, and they know about it, there should be a web page explaining how to FIX the firewall issue. I mean SERIOUSLY!
