mac shutdown automatically after few minutes

My 4 years old mac goes turn off automatically after few minutes of turn on. I have to push the power button to turn back again and goes off again after few minutes(But this time it doesn't retain power as long as when it do in first time).

I am thinking to repair this if it is economically repairable. Need some ideas from experiences guys to find out what is going wrong and how much it cost if i have to repair that mac.

Help will be appreciated.

Hi jdangol,

sounds like what I experienced with my Early 2006 white 20" iMac.

Turned out to be the power supply units (they have two as I learned) needed to be replaced.
Would have cost me around 500 Euros, so I gave it to a friend. Not sure what he finally did with it.

Have you tried doing a PRAM reset yet ? http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.6/en/26871.html
