After syncing my iPad from my MacBook Pro and seeing the messages in the progress bar report the new apps' installation, I don't see the new apps on my iPad. When I connect to my laptop and view the iPad screens in iTunes/Apps, the new apps are there; when I try to download the app directly from the App Store on the iPad, it says it's already installed. I've tried rebooting the iPad and re-syncing, but so far those apps are not showing up. I've also tried moving the apps on the MacBook/iTunes/Apps and then applying the change - no change. Any ideas?
MacBook Pro, iMac, MacPro, iPad,
Mac OS X (10.5.8)
Thanks - yes, I checked the other screens! Again, what is bizarre, is that I can see them on the iPad screens as represented in iTunes on the laptop - but not when looking at the iPad screen itself!
Did a restore from backup and synced again - no change. If I restore from the Summary screen in iTunes, I lose all my application data, right? (Another inconsistency - in iTunes/Apps I have four screens (last one is blank), on the iPad I have only three.)
When you do the restore from iTunes, it will wipe your iPad and restore all os software and firmware. You can then restore apps from your latest backup, which contains all your app preferences.
Did a complete restore from summary screen of iTunes - still the same apps are not showing up on the iPad despite being on the iTunes/iPad/Apps screens. In other words iTunes thinks the apps are there, the iPad knows they're there, but doesn't display them. Tried deleting the apps and reinstalling - same story. I can only conclude that the apps are not as compatible with iPad as they would like to think they are: Cloud Browse and Opera mini browser.
Having the exact same issue; at least one app that I installed and used several times has vanished. App Store thinks it is still installed, yet search by name cannot locate, nor is it found by paging through icons. App in question is EyeTV.
Also having the same issue...
1. you can see the apps in iTunes
2. the apps do not show up on any of the pages (swipes)
3. you can uncheck them and choose apply... then check them back and they do not show up
4. restart iTunes - same
5. restart computer - same
6. iBooks, MLB.com and USAToday are the missing ones, but other paid and free apps show up as expected
7. You can drag them to a page and drop them and they will not show up on the page even in iTunes. They only show up in the checklist.
We have not restored since from a previous post that does not seem to help. We just noticed it today. It was working as expected yesterday.
i'm also having the same thing...bought few apps today and not only this one not showing but 3 i had before showing nice have dissapear....like everyone else they show fine on my ipad screen in itunes but i cannot find them on my ipad....tried to unistall them and re-install with no success...i don't want to do a restore yet i have lots of stuff there don't want yet to redo it....can anyone help??
am also having the same problem. can't see pandora, NYT, yelp or netflix on the ipad, altho they are in itunes and can move them from screen to screen. have tried deinstalling and reinstalling, restoring settings, shutting down and restarting ipad and laptop... nothhing works... always the same apps that don't show up ipad, altho they appear on iphone (except netflix). very frustrating!
just found another thread that solved the problem, which is age restrictions in your setting. once you turn off the restrictions for in-app purchases, they all appear. of course, then the content is not restricted... let me know if you find a way to block the content, rather than the entire app.
Having the same problem, sync appears to happen normally, all the apps show in the iTunes preview of iPad, but nothing actually gets synced... I can see that it is not copying anything. But since it thinks it is there it won't do anything. It worked perfectly on the iPhone. All my restrictions are off. Any solutions to this?
I solved my problem! The issue is with having apps for both iPad and iPhone in the same library. Some of the apps work for both, some do not. So if you have "sync apps automatically" selected, then the iPad gets hung up on the fact that some of the apps are wrong, so it stops sync. I don't know why it looks like it has synced, but it has in fact done nothing. This problem does not happen on the iPhone - with the same list of apps the iPhone sync went perfectly.
So, to solve it I selected only the apps for iPad and sync, and it works now. Thanks to Apple SUPPORT EXPRESS LANE for the answer.
Thank you! Was having the exact same problem and this solved it. I'd changed my settings when my 3-year old learned his way around the ipad (took him about 4 days). Changing them back solved the problem and now all of the missing apps are there again. I'm still curious why the New York Times, ESPN magazine and Netflix were hidden but glad to have them back. Now if I can just keep him away from the ipad.
