Several update related issues but one I can't fix ???

Background: I'm on a PC with Windows XP. Got ATV 2-3yrs ago and use it on a WIRED network. Had the "need to open ports" issue and fixed it. All is good. VERY fast synch speeds and no problems. Love the ATV.....until...intalled latest iTunes update (9.??) 2 weeks ago. ATV no longer in device list. Hours of searching and rebooting and resetting and I finally find the answer is the latest Bonjour has a bug which causes this issue. Uninstalled and reverted to the previous Bonjour. ATV is back but in devices. Because all my content was wiped, have to resync. I only sync a small amount of data to the ATV...1900 songs. Usually takes less than 20 minutes. 36 hours later the end is nowhere in sight so I stop the sync. I made no changes to my network setup. I tested youtube and internet radio connectivity and they are fine. Quite fast actually. I reboot the ATV. No better. I reboot the computer with no improvement. I update the ATV to the latest version, still no luck. (Incidentally, I avoided the new ATV software due to a known issue with FLAC and WAIFF music files. Not sure if this has a fix yet). Factory settings restored and still no luck.

Basically, what could possibly have changed to make a wired ATV unusable when it has been fine for so long? This one really has me stumped.

stab in the dark.. have you tried rebooting your router and computer?

don't know windows well.. but you must have a network monitoring tool in there somewhere.. can you just set up just one song or movie to sync and report back what rate you are actually getting for the transfer.. are you on a 100 base or gigabit ethernet network? the rate needed for transfer of files, streaming etc for the internet are not going to be that great so that's not a good sign that you have a good transfer rate on your network for something like file transfers.. also you might want to transfer something from a computer to computer on your network to see what the potential for tranfer is on your LAN.

It is a gigabit network. I transferred a 4gig folder full of raw photos between 2 computers on the network in less than a minute. Not sure how to view actual transfer rate but that seemed pretty fast. Also, the ATV never had a prob before. I have always streamed content including HD movies with no issues. Something had to get changed in the last update that doesn't go away when you revert. I'm really confused on this one.

Any help appreciated.....

hmmm... network seems to be ok.. tried all the restores, restart etc, etc.. could you have some corrupted files or a flakey drive that your files are sitting on?

would be really good to see the actual transfer rates of files going to your appleTV and if some files are faster than others.

i had a drive that failed on me but before it did completely it would hang on the corrupted files being transfered.. it would usually crash the appleTV or iTunes in the process.. and your's doesn't seem to be doing that, so maybe it's not the that.

is it possible try to sync files from another drive and see how that goes? or transfer a few portions of what your trying to transfer now and see if you get the same problem (a few different portions so you would be trying to avoid portions with potentially corrupted files on it).. again just a stab in the dark.. you seem to have tried most of the things i would have..
