QuickTime Pro won't recognise .qtch (cache) files

I've been viewing QuickTime clips on the Internet, and have set my preferences to both view the clips through my Safari browser, and to save them (when possible) to cache. It has been doing this.

The QuickTime cache is in my User Library, and all the files there (including several I viewed today) seem to be there, in the .qtch format. When attempting to open them from the QuickTime player, I received the message "The movie could not be opened. This is not a movie file."

I'm using a registered version of QuickTime Pro 7.6.4 (on my non-Intel Powerbook for System 10.4.11).

Anyone know the workaround or solution?

PowerBook G4, PowerPC Dual 2GHz, Mac OS X (10.4.11), hot-rodded Windows 7 machine
