Arranging icons on iPad

Have been attempting to rearrange icons on my new iPad...all the posts say to do it via iTunes...how do I do that? I went to my Apps in iTunes...and I can drag them around, but they do not stay in anything but the order they are already in. Any suggestions?? Thanks!

With the iPad connected and iTunes running on your computer, click on iPad in left column under Devices. Click on th Apps tab on the right side of iTunes. You will see a representation of your iPad screens. Click on the screens you want, click and drag the apps and drop them on the screen you want them on.
