Deleting Itunes Account

I am trying to delete one of my Itunes Accounts so I can add one. It seems that there is a maximum. I don't want to delete Itunes, just one of my accounts.

Thank you,
Jeff

By deleting accounts, do you mean computer authorizations right? You have an ACCOUNT, and with that account you can authorize up to 5 computers to play music from that account.

In that case, yes there is a limit of 5. You have two options:

a.) If you know a specific computer you wish to deauthorize, load iTunes with that computer, go to STORE-> DEAUTHORIZE ACCOUNT. Enter your login information and the computer will deauthorize.

b.) If you wish to reset ALL of your authorizations back to 0, you can do this by going into the iTunes store, click your account name in the upper right hand corner, login, and click "Deauthorize All Computers". This option appears ONLY when you've reached the limit of 5 authorizations, and you can only perform this action one time per year. This is handy if you need to deauthorize computers which can't be accessed anymore

I was afraid I wasn't more specific. I have 5 itunes accounts. Familiy members, etc. I want to delete one of them and add make another itunes account. It has nothing to do with the number of computers and music. I tried to make an itunes account and it won't accept any credit card so I assume it's because I have too many accounts so I thought if I deleted one, then I could add one.
Hope this helps and thanks for your help.

I've never heard of any limit on the number of iTunes Store accounts any one person can have, unless the credit card company is rejecting the request for authorization. If when you attempt to set up a new iTunes Store account it's rejecting your credit card, either try a different card or call your credit card company and ask if they're rejecting the authorization request; they may be doing so in an attempt to prevent possible fraud.

Note that any given computer can only be authorized to a maximum of five iTunes Store accounts. If you have five already and want to set up a sixth, you'll either have to use a different computer (one that has fewer than five accounts authorized to it) or deauthorize one of your current accounts from the computer before you can authorize that system to your new iTunes Store account. This may be necessary even to create a sixth iTunes Store account, though I've not heard of that as a specific issue. If you continue to have problems just creating a new iTunes Store account and your credit card company doesn't indicate any problem, try deauthorizing one of the iTunes Store accounts from your computer so that it is only authorized to four and try again to create the new account.

Regards.

I've deauthorized all but one of my accounts and have attempted to sign up for a new account using numerous credit cards but have had no luck. I went to my Itunes account to make sure that the billing address was the same. I've done this many times and until now have had no problems. I wrote to Itunes and was given a few suggestions but that didn't work either.
This is very frustrating so if any of you have the solution, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Even though I deauthrorized accounts from my computer, they are still signed up with Itunes, but if I want to purchase anything from them I need to authorize the account. I need to find a way to totally delete an account from Itunes. I think the problem is that Itunes still has all of my accounts in the system. How do I delete them from the system?

You cannot delete an iTunes Store account. If you've deauthorized the system, that's as much as can be done.

At this point I'd suggest you contact the iTunes Store Customer Service department using the form on their Support page (select the category and subcategory closest to the issue you're reporting) and see if they can help sort out the problem, or at least provide an explanation as to why the problem is occurring.

Good luck.

Thanks Diane. I have been in touch with them over the past 3 days and they are also having problems. It's very frustrating to have to take all this time when one simple phone call would fix everything. Apple is very good with customer service and technical support that I'm surprised they don't have any phone help with Itunes. I did deauthorize most of my accounts but had no luck so I will wait.
Thanks for getting back to me.
