iPad turns itself on

Frequently (4 out of the 5 last times) my iPad is powered on when I take it out of my bag. I have the slip case that protects the screen, so I know it's not somehow sliding the unlock slider (somehow every time). I have the iPad set to never power off, because some apps I use are disrupted when this happens. So, it appears that somehow the iPad powers itself on and skips the unlock screen. I have a suspicion this happens only when I have cellular data switched on.

Has this been happening to anyone else?

I also have the same issue. I turn off my iPad normally and I'll come back sometimes to find it on. Or when it's next to me it'll suddenly turn on. Seems to happen about once every hour or two.

I do keep it sitting in the Apple iPad keyboard and the problem doesn't seem to happen when it's not sitting in the keyboard dock.

I have the same problem. I've been noticing that my battery has been run down a bunch lately. Over the last two days I've observed my iPad 2 turning on randomnly all by itself. It's also happened with the smart cover on--a Youtube video randomnly started playing this morning with the cover properly closed. Any help would be welcome.

To clarify, I have it set to never AUTO power off. I have to manually turn it off so there's no time limit it can remain idle.

I have the exact same issue. Plus, mine is set to turn off after a short time. All week, it has been turning itself on in my bag and the battery is drained because of it. Very annoying.

This has suddenly started happening to me, too. It doesn't happen all the time, but it seems to be occurring on a pretty regular basis. I'll put it the sleep by pressing the button on the top. Sometimes, when I come back to it, I find that the screen is on and unlocked.

It's not that it's terribly annoying or anything but between this AND the constantly wi-fi connection dropping (which happens at LEAST 3 or 4 times a day) I'm admittedly kind of disappointed with Apple for this.

I have a feeling it's some sort of electric interference sending a false signal to turn it on, but I'm not positive. It started doing this a few weeks ago (that I noticed, at least) when I plugged in all my fans for the summer months. That's the only thing I started doing differently. I never had this problem until 2-4 weeks ago.

This is happening to me as well, all of a sudden, out of the blue. What have people tried to do to fix the problem? I am restoring it to see if that works. Anyone else solve the problem?

It says this topic has been answered but i see no link or any place where the answer is given, this problem has been a bit of a nuisance but the much bigger nuisance is knowing there's an answer and not being able to read it can someone post the fix or give the secret to reading the answer to posts

Help! Mine does this too! I called apple support and they said they had never heard of it. Mine is doing it right out of the box. So? Nobody has any solutions or ideas?

Happens to me far too frequently. Same as others...I put it in my bag (seems to be a common thing: having this happen while it's in a bag), and when I retrieve it, it's turned on and sometimes drained of life. ANNOYING!!!!! I haven't seen any fixes for it yet.

It's not just the iPad. My iTunes has begun to startup on its own. I have a Mac mini and it started doind this two days ago without warning. I tried 'force quitting'. I have tried going to Terminal and entering 'Killall iTunes'. I have shut down, restarted, checked preferences, ran Disk Utilities, and STILL iTunes continues to startup on its own - repeatedly and playing songs. Could it be a bug of some sort attacking iTunes? I am also surprised Apple support has not heard of the issue since i notice it happening to others since at least 2007. I am not even running Lion. I am running Snow Leopard. Has anybody had any recent success?

This thread started a long, long time ago. Nevertheless, I do not see where anyone had tried a Reset so why not try that- (Hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons down together until the Apple logo appears and then release).
