TV Shows display with no title in Video App

Is this a bug or an undocumented feature ?

The video app appears to use a "fit to width" algorithm for the "Info/Chapters" window. If your are trying to "fill" this window with your artwork, then I suspect you are using non-square artwork images. Such images having a narrower width than heigh, tend to "push" their associated movie titles out of the allocated display area in the main entry window of the Video app. Check the aspect ratio of your source images and if rectangular, try something like a 500x500 or some other 1:1 aspect ratio to retain your titles.

That is the way it works-no title is displayed.
If the video is properly tagged, it will display season #.

The Videos app on the iPad does not show any text underneath the image of a TV Show (unlike Movies). This is not a bug - it is a feature.

The workaround is as follows:

First, download a picture of the title page for the TV show. Wikipedia usually has this.

Second, in iTunes right-click on the episode (you can multiple select) and choose Get Info. Click on the Artwork tab then click the Add button and navigate to the picture file.

Third, (re-)sync with the iPad.

This is one of those Apple oddities. I don't understand their logic for leaving titles off of TV shows.

I thought it was a bug when I noticed this with my first iPad but, it seems to be done intentionally. I have submitted feedback through official channels and look for it to be addressed with each software update but...

My workaround is derived from using EyeTV software/hardware to export TV shows that are recorded on my Mac mini. EyeTV creates a custom, letterbox-style graphic that includes the title for TV shows. However, programming acquired from other sources is still left without titles on the main screen of the iPad's built-in video app.
