How to change.MKV files into .MP4 w/o re-downloading/converting?? & delete

I've got 2 issues...

firstly downloaded a gigantic video file which is 3GB and split into 2 separate files which are .MKV files.

*how do i convert these .MKV files into .MP4 files so that iTunes will recognise them and let me upload them onto my ipod touch? i DON'T want to re-download the files again or convert them online into .MP4 then have to re-download them as .MP4 files*

i've tried manually re-naming the file extension to .MP4 but itunes still won't recognise the files! 😟

secondly how do i delete album artwork/lyrics from my ipod? like instead of artwork i see the blank white background with the music symbol when im listening to songs. *i think the MAIN reason why i cant delete the artwork is that i dont have internet on the computer i've got my itunes on. but surely that can't be the reason right?!* i've deleted all the lyrics and artwork with right-clicking and what not, but i still see the artwork.

if anyone can help with both of those issues it'd be greatly appreciated.

how do i delete album artwork/lyrics from my ipod?

you will have to delete the artwork in iTunes, then sync your devices to update the modified files.

good luck !

the link u've provided is exactly what i didn't want to do, but i appreciate your help. i don't want to have to download a program just to convert my .MKV files into .MP4 files. surely there's another way isn't there?

yeah that's what i've done, time and time again. when i had the net on the computer it worked perfectly but now i can't delete artwork/unwanted lyrics (which aren't actually lyrics) from my ipod. its just eating up my memory.

anyone else have a suggestion? 😟

in iTunes, select one file and +get info+ on it. you are unable to delete lyrics or artwork manually ? or can you but, when you okay out, the changes don't stick ?

thats what makes itunes so frustrating! it only accepts MP4 files 😟 atm i cbf looking thro most of the links google provided me via ur link but does that mean i have to not only download a conversion program but also re-download 3GB (or more) worth of video files again? 😟 *face palm* i hate itunes

the changes "dont stick". i have no idea why. every time i sync my ipod i always check the songs that i know has artwork/lyrics and i delete them. i don't know why but it always happens. nothing's been deleted. ***? why does that happen? i dont understand

of course not.

could the files be protected ? if you +get info+ on one of them in iTunes, and check the summary pane, does it say anything about protection, e.g. *protected AAC* ?

so i just download one of those convert MKV to MP4 programs and then it will convert my files into MP4 files and i really dont have to re-download the converted MP4 files? do u have suggestions on which of those programs i should download? the best one or is it a bit of a lucky dip with these kind of things?

i have no idea. i think several songs might have a protection code as i recall i've tried to change a few songs and remember a pop up saying that their was a copyright thing on it. its nothing like the big record company things its like the websites i download the songs from. what do i do now to delete them?

thanks for ur help so far

yes.

and i really dont have to re-download the converted MP4 files?

no. you'll convert them locally on your computer.

do u have suggestions on which of those programs i should download?

this would be my choice: http://www.aone-soft.com/mpeg-4_converter.htm

several songs might have a protection code

you're (legally) out of luck, then.

as i recall i've tried to change a few songs and remember a pop up saying that their was a copyright thing on it.

yeah, that's a good indiction 😉 you will not be able to modify these files without breaking the copyright protection (and thus breaking the law).

what do i do now to delete them?

why delete them ? other than that they will retain artwork and lyrics, those are perfectly good files.

you can remove them from the playlist that you sync to your Touch or uncheck them in iTunes so they won't get synced.

ok, i'll download the program u suggested coz i have no idea wat the best program is. im hoping its free and it'll work and no spamware. i'll let u know once i try to convert the two files.

i hate people 'tagging' songs that they dont even own with crappy pictures and other crap 'advertising' their website. i guess i'll have to put up with the unnecessary artwork/'lyrics' for now.
