What is supposed to be in the macbook pro's box ?

A few weeks ago I bought 15.4-inch MacBook Pro 2.53 GHz i5 from the retail store in Leicester, UK. I now realize that I haven't got an installation OS X cd in my box. So my question is what is actually expected to be in the box, and who do I need to contact if the cd was supposed to be there.

Contact the store you bought it from. You do have a users guide installed: hard drive>MacBook Pro 15-inch Users Guide.pdf. Page 9 tells you what's in the box. Besides the power cord and adaptor you should have a packet with two install DVD's and a booklet.

in the box it says whats comes in the box also, you should have a look, and if the cd is missing you should contact apple

There is a picture of the mac, ac power cord and the power adapter and that's pretty much it. There is nothing regarding the dvd's you were talking about. I'll give the store a ring and see what happens.

Angel: You wouldn't be the first person to throw away the installer DVDs without recognizing them — they are very inconspicuous. I don't recall exactly how they were packaged with my MBP (one of the early unibody models), but I remember thinking "Wow, I bet a lot of people aren't going to find these" — and sure enough, we've seen some posts here from folks who overlooked them and only realized it after the trash had been hauled away.

In my late 2009 13" unibody the two grey discs (one with the OS and some of the software, the second with additional software and the Apple hardware test) were located in a black card 'envelope" that fitted neatly into a slot in the box interior. It could, indeed, be easy to miss.

Found them. Oo I was well aware of that black envelope ( really nice touch by apple ) but the thing is that the cds were in a white sort of case which looked just like the manual and I though that's the same manual but in other languages. I feel rather stupid now, however grateful that I found them. Cheers lads.
