I've had some issues with the touch screen responding while in Safari. I'll touch the URL bar to go to a new site and nothing happens. I cannot scroll, either. Sometimes, when I do get the keyboard to pop up, it doesn't respond, either.
I do not have any response issues with the screen in other applications, however, and I was able to quit out of Safari without a problem. The problem seemed to resolve itself when I turned the iPad but has occurred since then.
I have had the same problem, mainly after sending an e-mail from my hotmail account. So I am not certain if it isn't my hotmail account or Safari that is "hung" up on my iPad. Is there a way to just "restore" Safari without restoring the entire iPad?
I haven't had that issue at all, but just make double sure that you have no other part of your hand touching another part of the screen as that will confuse the interface on what you're trying to do. But if you're positive that the only touch that's happening is what you intended, I would surmise a return/exchange is necessary (if a reset doesn't fix it).
I have had this happen to me once or twice while watching a video. A simple fix is to toggle the screen off and on. In the extreme case of this continuing to happen, you should reboot and restore your iPad.
If your screen was grey in Safari and the screen did not respond to your touch, 99% of the time if you do as Carolyn suggested to you about clearing the history, cookies and cache, the issue will be solved.
I've just noticed this issue after two days ownership. I reset the iPad and now it's working fine. If it happens again it's going back. Anyone else had this issue?
I am just having the problem. My touch screen does not work in Safari only. The screen appears grey. Only the web address box works. Reset power did not help.
