Any way to unselect "uncheck" all apps when syncing?

I have hundreds of applications for the ipad/iphone, etc. I had to do a restore on the ipad and I (again) have to go through each application one by one and uncheck all of them I don't want on the ipad (just about all). As far as I can tell I must do this one by one for each app or by clicking the "x" on the screen view.

Is there any way to do a sort of "uncheck all" approach in itunes so I can pick the handful I actually want on there?

Thx.

If you deselect Sync Apps under the Apps tab followed by a sync, all apps will be removed from your iPad.

If you restore your iPad with iTunes from your iPad's backup, all apps that were selected under the Apps tab for your iPad's sync preferences before restoring should be selected, not all apps that are available in your iTunes library. The same under the various tabs for your iPad's sync preferences.

If you restore as a new iPad or not from your iPad's backup, you must reselect the apps under the Apps tab you want installed on your iPad and the same under the various tabs for your iPad sync preferences with iTunes.
