ipod always says do not disconnect

If I plug my iPod into my computer the "do not disconnect" screen comes up and doesn't go away until I actually disconnect it. I can't sync it because it's always on this screen. The battery is charged, and I've tried to restore it.

Hello lysie,
And welcome to Apple Discussions!

This message will appear on your screen as long as your iPod is connected to your computer and you have not ejected it from Finder or iTunes.
[About the Do not disconnect and OK to disconnect screens for iPod|http://support.apple.com/kb/ta44686?viewlocale=en_us]

If your iPod appears frozen on this screen, have you tried a simple reset? To do this, toggle the hold switch on and off, then press and hold the Select (Center) and Menu buttons together until the Apple logo appears.

Otherwise there is something else going on here that is preventing your iPod from syncing with iTunes. How do you have it set up to sync?

As noted above, this message will appear as long as your iPod has not been ejected from your computer or iTunes. So this is normal. Did you take a look at the Apple support document I provided above?

And if you have your iPod set to manually manage music, no content will sync automatically. You will have to manually drag content over to your iPod from your library as desired as well as removed content from it as well. For more information on manually managing your iPod's content see this Apple support document.

That's because that is the screen you should be seeing whether you sync your content manually or automatically. Basically, what I'm trying to get across is that this message is normal and can be ignored. Simply start manually dragging your content to the iPod as desired. And when you are done, go ahead and eject it and as you already know this message will disappear.

And you should be seeing this message upon syncing with iTunes. And because this is normal behavior, you can simply ignore this message.
