Computer crashed, moved iPad to new PC...

I had the iPad on a PC, life was great and then it crashed. That computer is now in the trash and i have a new laptop, i installed iTunes fresh tonight and connected my iPad. It wants to erase my iPad which has all my apps on it that i don't want to lose in order to sync. It keeps prompting me to erase my iPad. How do i get around this, surely if your computer crashed and your iPad if full of data you cant be expected to give all of that up just because you switch PC's?

Have you authorized your new computer with iTunes?

See the iTunes Store menu item *+Authorize computer...+*

No, since i just got the iPad i hadnt backed up the computer yet, typically I do but ive been travelling so no.

Thank you VirtualGeo, this worked great! I didn't even restore my iPad, just transfered purchases, backed up, then clicked sync.

This will not transfer the songs from 3rd party sites back to iTunes. You still have to have music and photos in your iTunes library on the computer.

That method transfers all the apps but doesn't keep the folder structure. I guess I'll spend the next couple of hours re-organizing my apps.

Sounds great, however,when I rightclick on iPad the only choices I get are "restore from backup" or "eject". Any thoughts? Many thx.
