    Several ways...

I use an app called "Goodreader". It's a dollar and allows you to sync files with itunes or load them from a web browser type tool.

There are several ways. You can use an app called Air Sharing that can hold your documents and then you can open them on your iPad. I have used this on both my iphone & iPad and love it. You can even print from it. If you need to change these documents in any way, you will need the Apple apps - Pages, Numbers, Keynote (for power points). To open and read PDF files I recommend Goodreader. With these apps you transfer docs through iTunes with your iPad connected. Click on the apps tab, scroll to the bottom, chose the app you are using and click on + to add the document.

Depending on what you need to do with those documents, Dropbox provides 2G of free web storage. There is a free APP for it in the store.
