Open CD Tray in OS 9.2.2

My G4 has two HDs; one running OS10.4.11 the other running OS 9.2.2. When operating OS 10.4, I open and close the CD tray with the F12 key. How does one open the CD tray when operating OS 9.2, without going back to OS 10.4 to open the tray, inserting a CD disc, and then going back to OS 9.2???

G4, Mac OS X (10.4.11)

I forgot about this Eject! - 1.0.1
http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macos/13986

To use the Eject application simply double click it. It should eject or retract your CD drive tray. You could also move it to your applications folder and then associate it with an F Key (normally F12) so that you can eject your CD tray by simply pressing the F Key. To do this open your Keyboard control panel. Next click on "Function Keys...". Click on one of the F key buttons and navigate to the Eject application and select it. Click OK and you are done. In the future you need to only click on the F12 key to eject or retract your CD tray.

 Cheers, Tom 😉

Hi, Toniemae -

Yet another way…

Look on your hard drive, or on an OS 9 Install CD (not on an OS 9 Restore CD) for a folder named Eject Extras. In that will be, among other things, an applet named Eject. You can double-click that to directly open the CD tray; you can also link it to one of the FKeys via the Keyboard control panel.

Also in that Eject Extras folder is a module for the Control Strip. Drop that module into the Control Strip Modules folder in System Folder, and it should become available in the Control Strip (a restart may be necessary to make it active).

If you can't locate the Eject Extras folder, you can download it here -
Eject Extras - that's a direct download link, file size about 8KB

Thanks for the suggestion, it sounds like a good solution. With OS 9.2.2 active I downloaded Eject 1.0.1.
However, after Eject 1.0.1 downloaded, the folowing message appeared: " An error occurred during Apple event processing. Error -50" .
Also when I tried to open the folder, the message "The document Eject 1.0.1 Folder could not be opened, because the application program that created it could not be found." appeared.

Out of curiosity, I used another computer with OS 10.5 to download Eject 1.0.1, and when I clicked on the Eject 1.0.1 folder icon, a window appeared with what looked like to code for the Eject program.
