Mac Pro (Early 2008) Link Aggregation

Does Link Aggregation make a noticeable difference? We have just upgraded our switches to all gigabit with support for LAG.

Primarily using Final Cut Studio with Qmaster and large HD File transfers.

Mac Pro 8-Core 2.8ghz with 6gb 800mhz memory.

Just curious as to if it's worth setting up, thanks.

It makes a noticeable difference if you can push that much traffic through it.

To shamelessly spam my own blog: http://quintinsmits.com/2009/06/10/link-aggegration-with-a-mac-pro-and-a-netgear -gs108t

I've been using my Mac Pro with Link aggregation for almost a year now. You only notice the speed when your storage device is fast enough to provide enough data to saturate all that bandwidth. Besides that, if you're transferring one file, it won't use both physical wires of the virtual aggregated link. One thread will only use one physical wire.

You will only notice a speed upgrade when you're using very fast storage and when you've got multiple file transfers between your Mac and multiple other systems (or another Mac with an aggregated link.)
