Question: Transfer videos from Panasonic NV-GS27E to mac

I am just getting started working with video editing and facing a major problem even before getting into the actual editing 🙂

My setup is as follow:
1) Panasonic NV-GS27E Mini DV Camcorder
2) Macbook (older model with the firewire port)
3) iLife 2009

Question: What is needed to transfer videos from Panasonic NV-GS27E Mini DV Camcorder to mac? Do I need to by the firewire? If firewire is recommended, is there need for some additional software or has OS X/iLife all the necessary components?

I have went through several discussion forums and manuals but have not been able to find a clear answer. I would greatly appreciate help on this topic.

You will require a firewire cable. Firewire is also called IEEE1394 or iLink.

The cable needs to be (4-6 pin) 4 pin to connect to the camera and the other end 6 pin to connect to Mac.

Your Mac will have iMovie as standard and no other software is required.

iMovie>Help will tell you all you need to know about getting started. 🙂
