Best codec for DVD export for editing

If I want to burn DVDs for a client who will want to edit the footage later, what's the best codec for that?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.5.8), Final Cut Pro 7

If you need to compress the files to get them to fit on DVD's, I've found using compressor to convert to h264 at full quality, and maintaining pixel dimensions and frame rate of your source files does a pretty amazing job. Your client will need to convert the files back to something more edit friendly. I done this in situations where we had to zap files back and forth across the country and it worked very well.
