Drivers for NVIDIA Geforce 320m (Windows 7).

I've got my new MBP 13", but i don't have a cd with the bootcamp drivers for the video card, because I've lost my recovery DVD. So i'm seeking help with that. I wonder where can i get these drivers, because NVIDIA ones, even beta, not supporting this chip yet. Maybe i can get a recovery dvd iso or dmg somehow. I've got bootcamp 3.0 and 3.1 update installed on my windows machine, but still no luck, because the 3.1 version is dated mid january and my MBP is mid 2010.

Hi lazycoder,

I strongly encourage you to get those system restore discs, that way you can have all the latest drivers for the new machine. Apple can send you those replacement discs for a nominal fee. Regarding the device drivers for the NVIDIA chipset, I've uploaded the 32-bit and 64-bit Windows 7 versions and hopefully you can install them separately from the automated Boot Camp drivers installation. They are available here - http://files.me.com/jason_fearing/8u896i

Somewhat related, my 13" MacBook Pro with BootCamped XP freezes when I open up BootCamp from the control panel and move the brightness slider/window around. To fix this, I'm trying to install the newest NVidia drivers.

With a NVIDIA GeForce 320M display card installed, trying to install the newest NVidia drivers on XP, I continuously get an error say "The NVIDIA Setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware. Setup will now exit."

One way to solve this, as suggested by someone on another forum, was to install the drivers manually, and at the 99%~100% during installation, when it shows the error message "Your installation cannot continue, will revert back to your old display drivers when you click OK" at which point I don't press OK, but immediately hold the power button down for 5 seconds, after I re-boot, my new drivers work fine.

Except,

I can't control brightness from the control panel's bootcamp slider, nor keyboard shortcuts, it's continuously 100% brightness.

I've been working on this problem for 2 days, and I can't yet properly install the new NVidia drivers into XP. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

The drivers I've uploaded are Windows 7 (32-bit & 64-bit only). From my experience the new machines were throwing all sorts of errors in Windows XP (SP2 & SP3), to the point where I could not reliable use the OS. Interestingly enough, Windows XP via Windows 7 Virtual Machine mode works just fine.

I'll extract the XP drives and upload them, though, as it sounds like the other poster is experiencing issues.

Updated drivers.
I've made the drivers starting from the last "258.96 notebook_winvista_win7_32bit_internationalwhql.exe" 9th July 2010.

Mods has been done to file nvao.inf and few files from original bootcamp drivers has been added.

Do not use the setup.exe, I've not tested it.
Just install manually from hardware resources of seven (32bit), forcing drivers installation of the video card.
Look for the file nvao.inf and then choose GeForce320M.
Accept not firmed drivers.

This package solved my problems of nvidia drivers restart every time I play a movie.
Brigthness control also works.
Thanks to internet, forums, people.

Feedbacks are wellcome. Of course, use drivers at your own risk.

I've reported this to Apple already (hopefully they will fix this problem quickly), the 320M driver on the new Macbook pro 13 inch (mid 2010) causes very high latency on both USB ports making it difficult to use for serious audio applications. If I disable the 320M and use the Windows built in VGA driver the latency goes way way down to where it should be. There are serious limitations to using the VGA driver. For one you can't use dual monitors and you can't put the the computer to sleep for some reason (only shutdown). Plus the vid performance in general is bad.

Do you know of any other drivers that would work and hopefully not cause this latency problem?

Does the solution you used above get rid of the latency problem? Would it work on a windows 7 64bit install? I used dpclat to check the latency. It should be mostly under 200 micro seconds, but with the 320M it's way above that. The very best you can get after tweaking everything is between 1500 and 2300 micro seconds.

Thank you for your help.

ah well, I was hoping maybe your solution might have fixed that. If audio is important to you I do know how to get it reliably under 2000 - average 1500 or so. I can pass that info on to you if you need it. The most important one is to set your power pref to performance, but there are bunch of other steps that make it reliably under 2000. Let me know if you need that info. (Areo needs to be off, a number of other items need to be turned off as well)

To get the best audio performance you have to disable the 320M. It then reverts to the built in windows VGA driver - but there are a number of things you can't do when using that driver. For one you can't hook up a second monitor. Also, for some reason, sleep is disabled.

Thanks for getting back to me so quick.

I might also suggest calling Apple support and putting in ticket for all these problems including the latency issue. The more people that call in - hopefully the faster they will fix it.
