Ipad playing Dolby Digital 5.1 audio tracks

I noticed in Itunes Movie, those HD video on sale or rent carries Dolby Digital 5.1 audio track. I thought Ipad only play AAC? Does that means these HD videos available in Itunes Store can't be play on Ipad or Ipad in fact can play Dolby Digital 5.1 audio track?

Is there anyway that Ipad can play Dolby Digital 5.1 audio track (AC3)?

Video purchases from the iTunes Store are delivered in Standard Definition (SD), which can be played on your computer, iPod, iPhone, or Apple TV. Some videos are also offered in High Definition (HD). HD videos feature a higher-quality picture, but are designed to be played only on your computer or Apple TV. *Whenever you purchase an HD video from the iTunes Store, you will also receive the SD version.*

The SD version will be transferred to an iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad.
