missing hard drive icon

Question

missing hard drive icon

The icon for the Mac HD on my desktop has disappeared and doesn't show up in Finder windows anymore. I have selected "hard drives" in the Finder prefs, but nothing. This just happened. Any ideas?

Hi, first do a restart, if that fails to show the HD check in Finder-Preferences again..
After That go the SMC reset route (pertinent to your model).......L

Make sure you use the correct procedure for your model..it does vary from model to model..
Google -> your model smc reset

Here is what I found out.....

Go to finder
In the toolbar click on Go
then "Go to folder"
type "/volumes"
and drag the HD icon onto your desktop

it may be the alias of it, but it does the job. Hope this helps.

yea, now I at least have an alias of it... still curious what happened to the actual HD icon though
