Q: Security code is invalid. iTunes for iTouch.

Due to an issue with my computer, I am forced to buy my songs from my iPod Touch. But when I try to purchase new songs, I get a message saying I need to enter my billing info and it takes me to a screen that says I need to insert my security code, and when I do, it says the number I put in is invalid.

I ordered a brand new card from my bank and upon entering all the correct information I still get the exact same "security code invalid" message. That is obviously not possible. Apple needs to look into this.

I'm seriously glad that I'm not the only one with this problem, it started when I got my Touch, but, it some how got resolved, but now I can't do anything in the App Store because of this... It's getting really annoying, and it appears that Apple isn't doing anything about it. I want my money back >_>

now dont get mad if this doesnt work for you, i know there are down sides like having to keep track of new email and possibly losing purchased items but hey i figured the pros out weighed the cons

all i did was start a new email account and with that start a new itunes account, enter same credit card number and it worked(:

pleeez dont be mad at me if it doesnt work i know how it felt to try different things and then come up empty handed, just try it

I am NOT going to create a new iTunes account just because Apple is having billing problems. I'm going to complain until they fix them. And, I'm going to stop buying stuff until I hear that the problems are fixed.

This happened to me when my credit card expired. And I purchased something and owed .99 right when it was time to renew. When re-entering the credit card information, don't select the checkbox that says "pay the balance". Deselect that and then re-enter your credit card information. After that, pay the balance. It doesn't seem to work right all in the same transaction.

I've been having the same issue for at least 2 months. I have 26 app updates that I can't update. I have money in my account, all my info is correct and still cant use it. Pretty rediculous. Get your crap together Apple. Obviously this isnt a small issue when everyone is complaining about it.

This happened to me with my iphone 3. 2 days later, suddenly it accepted my security code. I just got my iphone 4, and now i have to validate my card and it won't accept my security code. I've had the same card for 3 years, i have the numbers memorized, but even still i checked just to be sure i have it right, and i do. At least i'm not the only one dealing with this.

I'm having the same invalid security code problem.

Has anyone heard anything recently about a possible solution?

    I had the same problem.
I changed my billing option to none and saved it.
Then I added the same card in and it worked.
    YMMV!!

The same thing happened to me, with my Visa card, and it happened on the Puma website and Coach website as well. The cards only a year old so I don't understand why its not working. If anyone has an answer to it that would be awesome. Maybe iTunes expects the visa security code to be 4 numbers instead of 3? I haven't tried messing around with it too much, but maybe I should.

I've spent some time researching the issue and here's what I found out:
    1. The issue is happening with new accounts, existing accounts with debit cards, gift cards and paypal but does not appear to be happening with major credit cards that are not connected to a checking account.
    2. Is only happening with major banking institutions BofA, Chase, Wells Fargo and Citi.
    3. Calling Apple does not help.
    4. Things that have solved the issue for some people include:
-updating your address so it matches the address you have on file with the bank.
-calling the bank to make sure your debit card is crv enabled. Even if it was before, having them check can fix the problem.
-using a card that is not connected to a checking account.
-entering the last 4 digits of the card number for a visa as the security code.
    5. Things that make the problem worse or unfixable include
-entering your security code over and over, this will lock your account.
    -loging in from different devices.
-changing the billing info more then 3 times.

Hope your happy apping soon! Apple is not addressing the issue. There is no quick fix. Some of these things work for some and not for others. Good luck!

I know this topic says iTouch but the same thing applies to iPhones..
This is getting ridiculous. I had previously verified my debit card right before the new Itunes/Safari update. Then the stupid update comes and everything gets messed up. I understand having to verify your account if you are making a purchase. But you shouldn't have to REverify your Debit/CC just to update apps and such. This is absolutely ridiculous. I find it very difficult to work with Apple on any of these problems. BAD customer service is what they are become notorious for quicker and quicker. When my iPhone went into recovery mode I called them for help. "Oh I can POTENTIALLY provide you with a solution but it will require you purchasing a service package". What kind of garbage is that?

    Anyways back onto this.

SIMPLE ANSWER FOR ALL US USERS:
It's true that with most Debit cards (in America anyways) you need to have at least $1.00 on them as they charge you a dollar..a DOLLAR to verify your account. I learned that the hard way a couple of weeks ago when I had just $1 left in my account.

This is getting to be out of control. If after every new update we have to REVERIFY our Debit cards what's the use of even updating? Why have your developers even develop new software if all you are doing is cheating up Apple?

I have found kind of a half fix. You still wont be able to buy apps that arent free, but you can get free ones and you will be able to update them and such.... Simply go to the itunes store on your computer, go to your account, and under credit card click none. Then just save and exit. It should no longer ask you to verify your card information when trying to buy free apps or update current apps.
