The most important step is to determine your ID and Password and the Credit card you want to use. The ONLY place to maintain this information is at the webpage at "Apple.com" under "account" THIS is the ONLY place which stores your security code
Please be more specific.
There is no "account" at "Apple.com".
Although your "account login" at "iTunes" may show a blank for the security code you cannot enter the number at that location.
Actually, that is the only placve it is available to enter it.
If you open the account page in iTunes to edit your account there will be a blank for the security code but although you can enter the number it does not capture it.
Works fine here when I enter it.
The securityy code is not displayed (as the entire CC number is not displayed) after it is entered aand you press OK as it kinda defeats the "security" aspect.
ONLY your Apple website account page will register the security code.
...
Apple webpage AccountHow about a link to this "Apple website account page" where you enter CC info?
appleid.apple.com is not a place to enter CC info.
iCloud: Vefiy you Apple account ID NOTE once again there is a security code blank but you CAN NOT change the code on the iPod.
I can easily change the CC info including security code on my iPhone/iPad.
Settings > Store, tapa ccount then View account.
iPod recently changed its requirement for and Apple ID on the iPod it has to be a legitimate email account
Note that Apple (not iPod) is the company that that makes iPods, iTunes, iTunes store, iPads, iPhone, iTunes accounts, etc.

I apologize for my incoherent description of how I finally thought I understood how the Login and Security Code thing thing works.
Here is the area on the Apple website where I found that I could change or update my CC security code and it would show the capture. No other place [not sure how many there are or if I saw them all] appeared to capture the code.
http://store.apple.com/us/account/home
When I said iTunes I meant logging into iTunes on my computer or the iCloud on my iPod not the Apple Website.
Sorry for all the mistakes..especially endowing the iPod with magical powers that are truly only executable by Apple Inc.
I am sincerely indebted to you for your suggestions and my iPod works like a charm now after applying your instructions. Perhaps the mysteries I unravelled [or not] while stumbling around attempting to find a coherent explanation are better left untold....at least by meself,Dia's Maire dhuit agus Padraig,
Mike

Note that this is for the Apple Store online (computers, Mac OS, accessories, etc.). It is not for iTunes.
No worries here.
Glad you got it sorted!

Mar 13, 2012 10:38 AM in response to Catfish Soupby Rejha Narok,Having the same problem. I notice this thread was put up two years ago. How ridiculous is this?? Does this issue just go away with time?

Mar 13, 2012 2:32 PM in response to Catfish Soupby brookmilne,I was having the same issue. I finally got it fixed by entering a different credit card and security code. Once it accepted that one I went back and entered my original card and code and it accepted it with no problems. Not sure what the problem was before, but it works now!

Mar 14, 2012 2:36 PM in response to Catfish Soupby lanie91,I tried changing my credit card info in the itunes store, but
it keeps saying "Credit card processing is temporarily unavailable."
This is so frustrating, I can't update any apps until I "fix my security
code" I try and it goes around in circles...HELP, PLEASE!

Mar 22, 2012 8:20 AM in response to Catfish Soupby feliksca,What the ****!!! I'm experiencing this issue now randomly as well...says Security Code Invalid, this is beyond frustrating.....so disappointed with the almighty Apple right now.... MY CARD IS VALID!!!!! FIX THIS ISSUE IT HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR YEARS WITH NO SOLUTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mar 22, 2012 8:39 AM in response to felikscaby feliksca,I've tried everything to fix this that is listed in this thread, with absolutely no success. I wish I could return this stupid Ipad2 to the store but it's over a month old now and I doubt they'd take it back. They say Apple products are supposed to be easy to use. I've worked with computers for over 15 years and I can't seem to figure out a simple billing issue, and I'm clearly not the only one. Unbelievable.... so glad I spent almost $600 on this piece of garbage.

Mar 23, 2012 2:39 AM in response to Catfish Soupby jayzgurlie,I am so disappointed!!! I have figured out that yes with iPod touch u can use a visa debit but I can not even update an app I paid for if my bank has less than .99$ in it so I currently have 37cents in my bank and until I can go make a deposit, which for me is going to be very hard since I'm on strict bed rest from a very bad car accident and I have a broken leg and 2 broken ribs and my shoulder I just had surgery on) MEANING I CANT DRIVE!!!!! I'm not asking for a loan on any apps that cost money I just want the updates WHICH I PAID FOR!!! I wonder does apple own the company Teamlava? Because in all my life I have never had such bad customer service like I get from Apple other than the co. Teamlava. I love the whole system of Mac. But just like I m now doing I know for a fact 35 other Usto love apple people who now, again just like me, will never buy another apple product again. I really don't get it. I was so glad though when my bro and I went to buy our new cell phones I purchased the HTC EVO, (him and I were die hard apple/Mac users) he chose the brand new iPhone 4 s or gs or whatever ur best iPhone is. Well after 2 weeks he regretted it and I love my phone and they have great customer service. Every question I had...totally helpful. My phone is not as new but hands down better and my brother is so disappointed. This is the stuff that causes us to go to other co's for our computers. My son is going this week over spring break to pick out a new lap top for graduation and he is a trust fund baby.....he gets a lot so he can buy any lap top out there. I own the iMac and he loves it, it was what he would have got but I will not let him and it is truly sad. Your software is one of the best in my book. I love it. But its not worth bad cust service. My brother could not even download apps because on his phone they only let him use a credit card and he's much younger than I am and didnt have one. He had to use our moms. But all that said if I buy a product that comes with updates and those updates are included in the price where do you get off running my bank card to check if I have money in my bank when I already paid you for it. What a joke. This is truly sick greed. I have never been so discussted. I don't have a trust fund like my son. And I'm stuck for at least a month up to 3. And I can't get my updates I paid for until I can figure out how to get to the bank with broken leg, ribs and bad sholder. Thanks apple. Wow oh and I'm not stupid I do know it will work if I have an iTunes gift card but I still have to get one. And excuse any type-o's & any spelling errors, I am stuck in bed and the iPod is what was closest and it's working very very very glitchy. Scencierly Tina Dotson ur sad and dissappointed customer.

Mar 23, 2012 6:18 PM in response to Catfish Soupby harmonycove,I am also having the same issue. Have entered different credit card and same result. This is really annoying. Not just for purchases but the fact that this needs to be resolved to install updates that are free. Ridiculous

Mar 24, 2012 8:38 AM in response to Catfish Soupby ilivelaughpray,Same exact thing has happened to me. I've e-mailed them 3 or 4 times and done everything they said and nothing has worked. I've triple checked my information, I've confirmed everything is alright with my credit card company, I've made a new account, etc. My same information works on Apple Store but not iTunes Store. I keep sending e-mails but no one seems to understand so I finally just called them but they said they couldn't help me and to e-mail them. Thanks tried that already...
