Apr 2, 2012 10:02 PM in response to Catfish Soupby Bayou2012,I bought a brand new 3rd gen iPad and had this problem, needless to say i was livid, but I did this and my account is finally usable. (for the record im using a visa debit card, have been for over 2 years.)
get on a computer (as i could not find this option on my ipad account manager) and go to your account and select your payment options. this is done by opening itunes on your pc or mac, going to the left hand side and selecting store, and either signing in or going to the top right corner of the store window (it should show the email associated with the account.) and clicking the dropdown arrow and selecting account. the option for payment will be there under "Apple ID summary" you may need to scrol to the left until you see edit.
after you select edit it should show you the card on the account. above your credit card info it should have options for different card types. to the far left of the options is "none" select this and log out of the account once saved. i waited about ten minutes and went back into my account info and put in the info for my visa and it works!!
I havent tried the paypal option, but i would have done that if this had not worked. the paypal option would require you to make a paypal account by visiting their website and attaching your card of choice to a paypal account. once the account is made it should bill your paypal which should pull from your card of choice.
I really hope this works for all of you as well. I know it ***** to spend so much money on apple products and then not having them work properly. another thing i read is alot of people finding issues with the bank, but my guess is this should be pretty rare, and would be a more widespread problem for you than JUST on itunes.

Apr 9, 2012 7:51 AM in response to Catfish Soupby SotchiD,I had been having the exact same problem. 1st of all, I keep seeing people post that they went to their iTunes account and chose "none" under the credit card option. I have no idea what they're talking about as that option does not exist when I log into iTunes online. What did work for me however, was changing my payment method to PayPal. Fixed the problem instantly. Hope this helps some of you too :)

Apr 10, 2012 11:04 PM in response to Lizsamaniegoby SotchiD,When you open itunes, in the upper right corner, scroll over your Apple ID/email address and then click "account". Then from the Account Information screen, click "edit" for Payment Type. There should now be options at the top of the page for several credit cards, PayPal, and None (crazy! The "none" option wasn't there yesterday before I switched to PayPal! I guess I stand corrected on my last post :) Now just click on PayPal, scroll to the bottom of the screen and hit Done! Hope this works for you!

Apr 12, 2012 1:29 PM in response to Catfish Soupby Psideresider,I just got a brand new iPad 2 a few days ago. Everything was going great until I got the message that my security code was invalid. I called apple and they had me go USPS.com . Then they said to do a search on my address. Your address has to be exactly what the post office has. Meaning, if they have your address in all caps you have to have yours in all caps. If there's no period behind an abriviation like DR. Then you can't have a period either. Has to be exactly like USPS. I then went on the iTunes short cut on my desktop, was told to by customer service rep to choose store then update my address. Then went to iTunes on my iPad, signed out, then logged back in. Then was instructed to download any free app. To my surprise, it worked and haven't had an issue since. Who would of thought that the USPS would have any bearing on this problem. This is officially from an apple tech, so it should work.

Apr 18, 2012 1:57 PM in response to Catfish Soupby Phoenix009,As of last night I had the "security code" three digit number issue. I ran through numerous theories and solutions to the problem/glitch on "Why is the security code three digit number not accepting or being retained after I enter it?" I was transfixed on the problem to re-entering it countless of timess, to re-entering all of my payment information of the debit/credit card, to changing my form of payment to a credit card and still dealing with the same issue. Then finally it dawned on me that I was so transfixed with the issue of the Security code than to carefully read into the entire "payment information" page.
This was my resolution to the issue that worked for me and within minutes I was able to download music again using my original debit/credit card given from before.
-Go to "settings"
-scroll down to "Apple ID": >click<
-scroll down to "payment information" >click<
-re-enter your 3 digit "security code" on the back of debit/credit card. Push >next<
-scroll down to make sure all credit information exact and correct for "Expiration Date" and "Billing Address"
*Finally the missing key that I overlooked and may be the key problem???
(There are no promises that this will work, but this is what resolved the issue and worked for me)
-scroll down to the bottom of "Payment Information" page and take a close look at the phone number shown. It should show your cell number. The question is now, "Does it show it correctly?"
I noticed that the area code to my number as correct, but the seven digit number following looked fine, but was missing the dash breaking the seven digit number was missing. I erased it and re-entered my number with the dash. Press >done< a few times. Then a new page opened up asking me for three security questions followed with my answers.
Next thing I went back to check to see if I could make a purchase of music, by going to the iTunes store.
Sure enough it worked!!! I was downloading music in no time.
I believe that the phone number was the problem to the solution that people are overlooking. Too transfixed on the three digit security code. The phone number plays an important part to your account. That all it needs is the dash.
*The interesting thing is if you re-check your payment information afterwards you'll notice that the three digit "security code" area is missing and in faint print say's requested along with the phone number is missing the dash
***-**** . Just make the two corrections again and everything was fine.
Good luck and my best to everyone!!!

Apr 26, 2012 1:45 PM in response to Catfish Soupby CesarCa,I had the same problem so i called the support, and what they told me is that my bank account didnt have enough funds for the purchase i previously made. What i had to do is use a different credit/debit card on my account to charge the previous perchase. I then switched to my old credit/debit card on my account and it would no longer show me the "invalid code" error, hope that helped.
