Jun 5, 2011 9:20 PM in response to Catfish Soupby cMonky,ok, well apple would't ******* fix it, so, i had to make a list off all the apps that i bought, and downloaded them off of appcake (installous doesn't work anymore) made a new itunes account and got the free ones off of there... i was willing to pay for all of my apps, but if apple wants to play hard ball, and not fix there ******* problems, well then i guess i will get my apps elsewhere FYI: this proccess involves jailbreaking

Jun 7, 2011 12:38 PM in response to Catfish Soupby christian boy,Greetings from sunny Westlake Village, CA.
Ok I have not read all the answers so if I am repeating one I am sorry. The ones I have read are over-reactions. It is probably NOT the security code that is tripping you up since that is the simplest thing you have in your account. If you are getting the message that you have entered the incorrect security code don't panic and try following possible fixes:
1. First make sure that your billing address and phone number are correct - that is they match what the credit card company has - TO THE LETTER AND SPACING. To make sure I suggest calling your credit card company's 800 number and ask them to confirm your EXACT billing address and PHONE NUMBER (once you've verified you are who you say you are of course.)
If that does not work:
2. Make sure the expiration date is correct. If Apple has it as 4/2013 but the exp. date on the card is the last day of March adjust it on Apple so that it is 3/2013 - not 4.
If you do the preceding you will probably find that there will no longer be a problem with your "security code."

Jun 8, 2011 12:37 AM in response to Catfish Soupby manual alphabet,Hello I had the same problem and couldn't download any free apps or get updates for them, what I did was just go to your iPhone-Settings-Store-View Apple ID-Payment Info-Credit Card-Select None-Done
Now I can download free apps and updates, seems to be a quick fix.

Jun 9, 2011 11:44 AM in response to manual alphabetby MikeColo,I tried that fix and it didn't work for me.
I did find another fix though. I had my AMEX info stored and that was the one I was getting the error on. Same story, used it for years, nothing changed. I just switched Credit Cards to another one. That worked fine and then I switched back. All is well.
Hope this helps!

Jun 18, 2011 6:52 PM in response to Catfish Soupby Pos3idon,I found on a different fourm that VISA DEBIT cards do not work on apple, I don't know if any other debit cards work only that visa debit cards do NOT work
-
Jun 18, 2011 9:42 PM in response to Pos3idonby Jonathan Fletcher,It was a Visa debit that worked for me. It was my Visa CREDIT card that did not. I entered instead a Visa DEBIT card and got it approved and then I changed it back to the original card and it finally worked. Probably due to a glitch in iTunes and NOT the particular card you are using.

Jun 19, 2011 8:28 PM in response to Catfish Soupby LouisianaSoldier,I fixed mine and was able to redownload my old albums. I went to my account info and instead of picking a credit card at the top, I selected none, and then saved it. Then I went back to the home page and then purchases and VOILA I'm downloading pre-purchased old albums now...

Jul 17, 2011 3:08 PM in response to Catfish Soupby Pikalax,If you have a Debit card instead of a credit card, don't use it directly! Instead, create a PayPal account with your bank account and use that instead. From what I have seen, this problem has occurred exclusively with Debit cards.

Jul 17, 2011 4:27 PM in response to Pikalaxby Jonathan Fletcher,"Exclusively?"
To quote good old Inigo Montoya: "I don't think that word means what you think it means." Two posts above yours I clearly stated that my DEBIT card worked fine and it was my CREDIT card that had the problem. Clearly there is some other cause of the problem. Soution appears to be consistant, though: change it to something else and change it back.

Jul 28, 2011 4:08 AM in response to Catfish Soupby Nguyener,I just got this issue about 6 mins ago and tried to see if I can get some help on here and I was getting really mad. Then I realized that I entered the last number of my security code wrong lol but I remember that last time I just keep hitting Done over and they let me downloaded my app on my ipad 2. If that does not work for you, try to go on a comp. and edit your info. there or get help from the genius bar.
P.S They are not really geniuses lol they mostly ask you what is wrong and then replace with a new one. It's just seem technical when they Diagnose the device lol thats what I mostly see they do. But MAYBE Just maybe they can help you with it. Goodluck

Aug 6, 2011 9:38 AM in response to Catfish Soupby Sandy W,This happened to me once.
I DO have it linked to my debit card an it was happening because iTunes was trying to take more money out of my account than was available. Did any of you check to see what your available balance was? It would have been much easier if I had a reciept to look at because I was double charged for all of my purchases BUT they don't send a reciept out until the charge has gone through. So, the MAIN cause of this is INSUFFICIENT FUNDS. Once the money was added to my account and it went through, I "updated" my card info with the exact same info that was there and it worked again. Hope that helps some of you, but I have NO IDEA why its happening to AMEX. Don't they have an unlimited balance? I would call AMEX if that is the card you are having the issue with.
Good luck everyone!

Aug 8, 2011 9:57 AM in response to Mar2510by jrb-pa,This is still going on. I got a reply from a customer service person with instructions to correct this, followed exactly and got nowhere. Tried changing cards, no joy.
Any chance this is tied to the loss of support for older OS? I noticed in the problem report that the oldest OS listed is 10.6.6.
