Bookmarks Menu has Disappeared!

Bookmarks Menu has Disappeared!

Suddenly it's just gone. It's not there if I click Bookmarks on the Menu Bar and it's not there if I click the Book icon on the Bookmarks Bar. Any ideas?

iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.3)

HI,

From the Safari Menu Bar click View/Show Bookmarks Bar.

Tip... save your Bookmarks to an external source just in case.

From the Safari Menu Bar click File/Export Bookmarks

HI,

It's not the Bookmarks Bar that you saved. It's your Bookmarks themselves. That way if you need to Import them back in you can.

Are you sure your Safari window expanded all the way out? Drag the bottom right corner of the window to the right just in case.

When you pull down the Bookmarks drop-down menu,
do you see "Show All Bookmarks?" Can you select that one?
If you can, do you see:

History
Bookmarks Bar
Bookmarks Menu
RSS Feeds

Can you then select Bookmarks Menu?

Yes, I can pull the window all the way out and there's still nothing in the Bookmarks Menu.

Do you know where the menu is supported to be on the HD? If I know that then I can look for it. If it's not there I can restore it from backup.

For unknown reasons, I, too, have suddenly lost the bookmarks menu. I've had to locate the bookmarks plist (user/library/safari), then do a Time Machine restore from a previous "good" date. That's worked. The disappearance problem may be related to clearing history. Perhaps a bug.
