I have tried to unistall and install itunes repeatedly and keep getting the same error. Microsoft .VC80.CRT, version="8.0.50727.4053". type="win32" publickeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",processorArchitecture=s86" I have tried all of the related forum resolutions on the discussion board but nothing seems to work. I have a very upset wife who has been without her itunes for quite a while now. Someone please help me I am really in the dog house now.

Interesting. That's a rarer one.

These ones are typically caused by an underlying problem on the PC that can also cause Windows Updates to fail to install. So my main strategy with them is to apply the Microsoft documentation on the parallel sorts of problems with Windows Update. If we can get that fixed, that can clean up the iTunes install trouble +en passant.+

In this case, the documentation trail on the 0x8007054F at Microsoft led to documentation on a different error message code, the 0x8000FFFF, which I've also seen associated with iTunes install trouble of this kind. So let's try the *method 2* fix for that from the following document:

[Error when you download updates using Windows Update or Microsoft Update: 8000FFFF|http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;946414]

After applying that, head to Windows Update and attempt to stock up on any updates that you're behind on. (You may need to do this in several batches. Essentially, keep going to Windows Update until it stops offering you new updates.)

After you've stocked up on Windows Updates, can you get an iTunes install to go through, dmac?

Good news about the iTunes install at least, but we'd better try to continue to get your Windows Update working. (In the great scheme of things, it's a more serious problem on the PC than the iTunes issue.)

The 80070490 indicates trouble with the Component Based Servicing (CBS) manifest on the PC. I think we'd first better try *Method 1: run the System Update Readiness tool (Checksur.exe)* from the following document:

[You receive a "0x80070490" error code when you use Windows Update or Microsoft Update Web sites to install updates|http://support.microsoft.com/kb/958044]

Given that your Windows Update is erroring out, you'll probably need to download the tool manually ... there's advice on how to do that in the *Information for advanced users* section of the following document:

[Description of the System Update Readiness Tool for Windows Vista, for Windows Server 2008, for Windows 7, and for Windows Server 2008 R2|http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947821>

I've uninstalled itunes, deleted the folder from program files and restarted my computer 3 times and it hasn't worked. Help!
