160GB classic won't mount to MY laptop but mounts to my wife's?
I have a 160GB classic iPod about two years old and 70% full of data.
When I attempt to connect it to my computer (a Compaq Presario CQ60), the iPod screen changes to "Connecting", as it should, but the computer cycles between "ba-DONK" and "BA-donk" connection and disconnection noises. itunes does not start up. The iPod does not appear in My Computer. It is not connecting.
However, it connects perfectly to my wife's Sony VAIO laptop.
I have a brand new lead.
Other USB devices (Hitachi external hard-drive, my camera) have no problems when connecting to my computer, so I know the USB ports are working fine.
It just seems that my laptop and my iPod won't talk to each other. I don't know what to do!
