Q: A NEW TRACKPAD DRIVER IS OUT

I've got a good news for Macbook Pro / Air owners: a new multitouch trackpad driver for Windows 7 is out.

This driver (codenamed 'Trackpad++') neither contains, nor modifies the original Apple code.
However, it relies on Apple drivers stack for raw hardware access, that's why Boot Camp 3.1 shall be installed first.

Features of the Trackpad++ driver (vs. Boot Camp 3.1 driver):

1. Improved pointer ballistics (pointer movement can be very slow or very fast, depending on the finger speed);

2. Dramatically improved two-finger scrolling experience: Mac OS X-similar (accelerated) scrolling model implemented;

3. Elimination of the most annoying Windows issue of Apple Multitouch Trackpad, i.e. false detection of drag'n'drop actions;

4. Trackpad++ Control Module for adjusting the Trackpad settings.

Supported Macbook Pro generations: Early 2008, Late 2008, Early 2009, Mid 2009;
Supported Macbook Air generations: all generations;
Supported Windows versions: Windows 7 32-bit, Windows 7 64-bit (Boot Camp 3.1 shall be installed first).

You may visit http://trackpad.powerplan7.com for details.

Just by the way: there was an extensive beta-testing phase, and a lot of volunteers have tried Trackpad++ already, so I can assure You that the driver is rock-stable.

P.S. I wrote this driver. My another project is Power Plan Assistant - a popular utility for Boot Camp-enabled Macbook Pro and Air notebooks.

Cheers, and enjoy Trackpad++, something Apple definitely have had to implement a while ago... but I know and You know - it never would...

    An updated build is available right now.

    Maybe clear your browser's cache if you still do not see it.

    Please consider a donation to support the Trackpad++ project, and you will be provided with a Personal Serial Number. Or just use the Trackpad++ software forever for free - registration is optional, this is why we are talking about the 'donation', not about the 'purchase' or something.

    Vladi, hello and thanks for a great effort.

    Been using Trackpad++ for quite a while, yesterday I upgraded my bootcamp to version 3.2. Now the trackpad driver ++ doesn't exist anymore. Have you tested your latest drivers on BC 3.2?

    Power Plan Assistant setup is now fixed. Trackpad++ has not been corrupted.

    Both the Power Plan Assistant and Trackpad++ have been tested with Boot Camp 3.2, full compatibility is guaranteed.

    Just for your information: while you finally can turn off keyboard backlight in Boot Camp 3.2, you have to press keyboard 10 times every time you start Windows in order to do so. Therefore, Power Plan Assistant trackpad/mouse 'a-la Expose' gesture is still the fastest, the easiest way to control keyboard backlight in Windows.

    Oh, I was mistaken. 16 times, not 10 times...

    I am sorry, but Windows XP will not be supported. Only Windows 7 support is there.

    Many thanks Vladimir for your software, but... unfortunately i can't manage working even Right-Click on Trackpad.
    Yes, mouse pointer is moving by trackpad, I installed driver, it can be seen in DeviceManager and your "Adjust Settings" application can use it. I have ON Secondary Click and Tap options.
    But neither bottom-right click nor 2-fingers tap doesn't work.
    Could you suggest a way to solve this problem? (I'm using W7 64 with
    trackpadplus_plusx64 DriverVer=10/09/2010,1.3.0.0 and Trackpad++ Control Module 1.3a-64.
    Looking forward for your comments!

    I suspect, you did not install the Boot Camp 3.2 driver first (or 3.1 - just by the way, the older 3.1 version of the Boot Camp is still preferable, if we are talking about the trackpad behavior; it is simply less buggy than 3.2)

    An issue is, Trackpad++ relies on Apple HID drivers stack for raw hardware access, so it will not function properly unless the Boot Camp 3.x drivers for "Apple Multitouch" are installed.

    Please note, this shall not be a "surprise" - it is actually indicated just everywhere, including the installation instructions and in the initial post of this topic.

    probably I didn't say it clear:) I'm trying use Trackpad with "native" Windows PC, not Mac. So, I can't install BootCamp as-is, instead I can unpack BootCamp3.264-bit.exe and install drivers from there manually.
    Just now I looked into 3.1: seems it hasn't Binary.AppleWirelessTrackpad_Bin which available in 3.2. However for safety I installed few BT drivers from 3.1 but it doesn't help.
    In devmgmt.msc i can manually select your trackpadplus_plusx64 driver and it can be seen in device manager. But without your driver trackpad (VID_05AC) shown as HID-compliant mouse and I can't manually select Apple driver from BootCamp package (I have switched off drivers "signing" in W7) and as you told this is the original reason.
    If I try select manually AppleWTP64.inf driver, Windows didn't find "compatible software driver for your device.", however installer finished successfully and says: "Apple Wireless Trackpad" is "Ready to use"

    Could you suggest how to install apple drivers correctly?

    Ah, got it... Please note, the Magic Trackpad is NOT supported! Install Trackpad++ only for the internal trackpad of Macbook Pro and Air notebooks.

    Hi Vladimir, I've been using your trackpad driver successfully for some weeks now, however, after installing Service Pack 1 for Windows 7 yesterday, the driver won't work any more?

    After installing SP1, reinstall Power Plan Assistant. Trackpad++ will now work again but you will see a message in the lower right corner of your desktop that tells you that Windows in in test mode. This is the result of turning off the driver signing protection.

    I did reinstall powerplan 7 but it showed the trackpad driver in device manager with a yellow exclamation and was not working. So I tried removing the driver and then reinstalling it but the installation failed.

    Yeh, I noticed the "test mode" in the lower right corner directly after installing SP1, it was bugging me so I ran the bcdedit fix to get rid of it.
