Q: A NEW TRACKPAD DRIVER IS OUT

I've got a good news for Macbook Pro / Air owners: a new multitouch trackpad driver for Windows 7 is out.

This driver (codenamed 'Trackpad++') neither contains, nor modifies the original Apple code.
However, it relies on Apple drivers stack for raw hardware access, that's why Boot Camp 3.1 shall be installed first.

Features of the Trackpad++ driver (vs. Boot Camp 3.1 driver):

1. Improved pointer ballistics (pointer movement can be very slow or very fast, depending on the finger speed);

2. Dramatically improved two-finger scrolling experience: Mac OS X-similar (accelerated) scrolling model implemented;

3. Elimination of the most annoying Windows issue of Apple Multitouch Trackpad, i.e. false detection of drag'n'drop actions;

4. Trackpad++ Control Module for adjusting the Trackpad settings.

Supported Macbook Pro generations: Early 2008, Late 2008, Early 2009, Mid 2009;
Supported Macbook Air generations: all generations;
Supported Windows versions: Windows 7 32-bit, Windows 7 64-bit (Boot Camp 3.1 shall be installed first).

You may visit http://trackpad.powerplan7.com for details.

Just by the way: there was an extensive beta-testing phase, and a lot of volunteers have tried Trackpad++ already, so I can assure You that the driver is rock-stable.

P.S. I wrote this driver. My another project is Power Plan Assistant - a popular utility for Boot Camp-enabled Macbook Pro and Air notebooks.

Cheers, and enjoy Trackpad++, something Apple definitely have had to implement a while ago... but I know and You know - it never would...

    @gechustyle: oh yes, this is the reason, and everything that is working with your NOT buttonless trackpad is a small miracle already, because only the buttonless trackpads are supported. Here is an updated list of the 100% compatbile devices.

    Supported Apple Macbook Pro generations:  Early 2009,  Mid 2009,  Mid 2010,  Early 2011,  Late 2011,  Mid 2012 / Retina

    Supported Apple Macbook Air generations:  Late 2010,  Mid 2011,  Mid 2012

    Hi all,

    I like Trackpad++ very much. It's so convenient with my MBA.

    I'd like the serial number , so I have tried to donate some last two weeks, but in vain.

    Paypal system says "This recipient is currently unable to receive money."

    Any idea?

    I can't donate either, as I get the same "This recipient is currently unable to receive money" error...  I would love to donate and get a serial for this awesome software, how can I make this work for you Vladimir?

    Love the software, thanks for the updates. I've been a long time user and donated last year. I have just one request:

    Please, please, please allow custom commands for the multi-finger gestures. If I could just assign keystroke combos to them, I'd be able to do so much awesome stuff.

    Actually, I think that is a great idea. If we could have a way to somehow plug it in with AutoHotKey, that would be pretty awesome!!! AutoHotKey = omnipotence .

    That's exactly my line of thinking. Keyboard commands are all you need to tie into AHK and from there you can basically do absolutely anything.

    After the install, is anyone having issues with the function keys (speaker & brightness) not working?

    thanks

    @smc, the speaker, brightness and fn key works fine for me, but I did notice that the graphic that would come up displaying the change in brightness/sound/eject/etc (like on OS X) does not come up anymore while Power Assistant/Trackpad are running.

    Hey. All of the top row keys are working for me as well as the graphic meters which show up correctly. Yep I run both Power Plan and Trackpad++. Also I think Vladimir had noted somewhere those even in theory can't be affected. Perhaps those are just the fresh glitches from Apple BC

    @fred, I think you're right. It's strange, since they used to work. Even though there is still the sound when you change the volume, the meter does not display.

    Also, I'm not sure if it is an issue with BC or with PA, but if you quickly alternate between two keys (f11 and f12, or f3 and f4) you will notice the fn function will occur as if you pushed the fn button. So for instance, while typing this, I alternated between f11 and f12 quickly, and IE went full screen and back a few times, as if I pushed the fn button while pushing f11. Though this isn't reflective of real world usage and not a real problem, just something I noticed randomly

    I would like to send you a donation for Power Plan Assistant. The GMail account you ask the donation to be sent to is not set up to receive money, according to PayPal. I've sent a couple e-mails over several days and have not received a reply.

    @saturnotaku, @All:

    The PayPal donation option shall become available within a few days. Thank you for patience. And thank you in advance all the good people for willing to support the development...

    @All: Time for some really good news. The 3-finger dragging is now 70% ready and works so awesome (when works ). But not only that, I've managed to  change the gestures so that you still have the much beloved back/forward and middle button emulation trackpad functions. Yes, simultaneously with the 3-finger dragging.

    I will put the beta version soon.

    Cheers,

    Vladimir
