Q: A NEW TRACKPAD DRIVER IS OUT

I've got a good news for Macbook Pro / Air owners: a new multitouch trackpad driver for Windows 7 is out.

This driver (codenamed 'Trackpad++') neither contains, nor modifies the original Apple code.
However, it relies on Apple drivers stack for raw hardware access, that's why Boot Camp 3.1 shall be installed first.

Features of the Trackpad++ driver (vs. Boot Camp 3.1 driver):

1. Improved pointer ballistics (pointer movement can be very slow or very fast, depending on the finger speed);

2. Dramatically improved two-finger scrolling experience: Mac OS X-similar (accelerated) scrolling model implemented;

3. Elimination of the most annoying Windows issue of Apple Multitouch Trackpad, i.e. false detection of drag'n'drop actions;

4. Trackpad++ Control Module for adjusting the Trackpad settings.

Supported Macbook Pro generations: Early 2008, Late 2008, Early 2009, Mid 2009;
Supported Macbook Air generations: all generations;
Supported Windows versions: Windows 7 32-bit, Windows 7 64-bit (Boot Camp 3.1 shall be installed first).

You may visit http://trackpad.powerplan7.com for details.

Just by the way: there was an extensive beta-testing phase, and a lot of volunteers have tried Trackpad++ already, so I can assure You that the driver is rock-stable.

P.S. I wrote this driver. My another project is Power Plan Assistant - a popular utility for Boot Camp-enabled Macbook Pro and Air notebooks.

Cheers, and enjoy Trackpad++, something Apple definitely have had to implement a while ago... but I know and You know - it never would...

    @turkz1: Thank you for reporting an issue. My advice would be, please always check with www.virustotal.com (it scans with all of the AV engines available on this planet). Definitely the most ultimate check one could imagine. And I just had personally re-verified, all is clean!

    As for the Norton "WS.Reputation.1" diagnose, it is natural to have it. This category means simply: a new file, rarely or never seen in the past. Very fool thing. They have to at least clearly state this is not a virus of any meaning. I update the files weekly, so each time the file is new and has no chances to become popular enough to not get into this category.

    Such an error in PPA is not known to me.  You know, this antivirus acts worse than some viruses.

    Yea, I have to agree with you Vlad... Norton's WS.Reputation.1 is really annoying...  I have a few GREAT programs, including yours, that get detected, but only because they are not well known.

    But, I do have to say, I actually like Norton360 otherwise.

    Is anybody else unable to navigate to powerplan7.com??

    My desire for three finger drag within bootcamp is unfathomable (running windows 8.1)

    @NateBearPig: Strange, maybe it's again an old issue with AT&T. Please try an official mirror at http://www.bootcamp-utils.gmabooster.com

    According to an email feedback which is being  gathered since the new year (when 3-finger drag had been reworked), the 3-finger drag can be considered as the top feature of the Trackpad++. By the way if you could return here and leave some public feedback on this (or other) features, this would be much appreciated.

    @ALL: Just a general tip, for the information of the community. Trackpad++ driver can be used together with such tools as Dexpot and Emcee, to bring the OS X Mission Control (like) functionality to Boot Camp. Just assign the relevant shortcut to e.g. 4-finger swipe up Trackpad++ gesture, and enjoy the Mission Control feature in Windows. With the recent version of the Trackpad++ this can be done by setting up the Trackpad++ 'Run Application' action for the gesture of your choice.

    I USED THIS TRACKPAD++ FROM 2013 OCT, IT'S ABSOLUTLY CHANGED MY EXPERIENCE OF WINDOWS 7 ON MAC BOOK AIR. THE FUNCTION OF TRACKPAD OF MACBOOK AIR WORKING ON WIN7 IS SO POOR. WITHOUT A MOUSE ACTUALLY I FEEL IT'S NOT WORKABLE TO HANDLE THE OPERATE SYSTEM. UNTIL I FIND THIS TRACKPAD++, THEN MACBOOK AIR BECOME PERFECT FOR ME AGAIN.

    Greetings!

    I have been a users for a LOOOOONG time - great app!!!  I had Trackpad plus 23d installed and I just installed a microsoft arc touch mouse and after the driver install I found that it looks like I needed to reinstall trackpad++ for my situation (btw, I am on Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit registered user).  Anyway, I just downloaded the most recent trackpad and I get the unhandled error in .net framework.  Any thoughts on how to resolve this?  It installs but I can't configure it...

    Thanks,

    DaveR

    To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this

    When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception

    Fixed!!!

    My .net framework issue after installing the latest trackpad version (my previous powerplan/trackpad version was old)!  Had to install the latest powerplan module first, over the top, then installed the current trackpad module and everything is fine.  Sorry for the post.  I hate messing with this application since once it is installed perfectly I hate the disrupt this very usable trackpad.

    I want to also go on the record and say, like a previous poster THIS IS ABSOLUTELY THE BEST APPLICATION I HAVE INSTALLED ON MY MACKBOOK AIR!!!  IT MAKES WINDOWS 7 THE BEST EXPERIENCE EVER ON GREAT HARDWARE!!!

    Ok, caps-off now.  Seriously, if you have never tried this using bootcamp with windows 7 and a MBA you are missing out.  This is the best PC experience I have ever had.  Thanks Vladimir - probably yet another donation coming - I like the pinch to zoom on windows 7!!!

    Thanks,

    DaveR

    @ALL: Just to let the community know - I have extensively tested all of the Trackpad++ features/gestures with the recent major Windows 8.1 Update 1.

    The good news are, the Trackpad++ driver works 100% correctly after updating. No need to reinstall it. However, Test Mode label in the corner may appear. In case it does, please use the following small standalone fix (cooked by me) http://powerplan7.com/Windows_8_81_x64_Test_Mode_Remover.zip (Usage: unzip, run as administrator, reboot). You can use it whenever some Windows update reverts the setting, which may happen only with very major updates, typically once in a year.

    Vladimir, just wanted to thank you for all the hard work you put into Trackpad++. I use it all the time and my experience with Windows Bootcamp on a Macbook Air wouldn't be the same without it!

    I have been looking for some information on whether the back/forward function still works with Win 8.1 on Macbook Air (late 2012 model), since my upgrade to Win 8.1 and the latest Trackpad++ driver updates I seem to have lost the function. Might I have missed something in the last few pages of this thread?

    @dreamoo: Thanks for your feedback! Trackpad++ back/forward navigation is there. Just by the way, according to a long-term (a few years long) feedback it's still the top feature of the Trackpad++ (together with 3-finger drag, middle mouse button emulation and accidental input filtering). There is only one possible reason for this feature not to work: it's if you had installed third-party mouse software. E.g. mouse drivers/utils from MS and Logitech are known to change something in the system so that this specific gesture is affected. All the rest of the features of the Trackpad++ driver are not affected, though.

    I'd just like to ask: if I want to donate, will have have to make a donation for both power plan assistant and trackpad ++?
