Hi. I enjoy listening to Pandora with my iPad set up beside my computer while I work. It's nice to be able to see what is playing, but I find that the iPad screen goes black after a couple of minutes, until I touch it to wake it up. I've got two questions. 1. Is there any way to prevent the screen from going to sleep? I can't find a setting like the power options in the regular mac os. 2. would it harm the ipad if it WERE possible to let the screen stay on for an extended time (since scome portions of the screen would probably not change (e.g., controls))? Thanks.
You can go to setting and adjust the AutoLock timing. It includes a choice for "Never". Please note that if you are connecting to an Exchange Server for company email, your administrator has the ability to limit the AutoLock setting. Our admin only allows for 2 minutes and 5 minutes, with no option for never.
Thank you for this prompt answer, that indeed seems to work. I've set it on 15 minutes just to be safe.
I did a search of the pdf of the iPad User's Guide and found that the word "autolock" does not occur in it-- though "auto-lock" does, and this is what the setting is actually called. A problem I guess with English spelling of compounds. But that's another issue.
"lock" would have found either. When searching, I often use just a portion of the word or phrase to make sure I don't miss what I'm looking for. I usually get more results but toggling through the extra is usually not a problem and worth the extra effort compared to multiple searches with different phrases or words.
