Cannot Log in to Hotel WiFi

I'm in a hotel room and can log in with my Macbook to the hotel wifi, and my wife's iPad can log in to the hotel's wifi, but mine will not.

I can see the wifi and connect to the wifi, but then a screen comes up and asks for the username and password. When I enter the username and password (and press enter) the screen locks and nothing else happens. If I do not enter a username and password and press enter I am told the password is incorrect. If I actually enter random letters as username and password, the screen locks. The login is going to login.nomadix.com.

I have tried the usual network resets, powering on and off, and power+home button reset. None of these work. This is the second time I have had this problem at this hotel, but I do not have problems anywhere else that I am aware of.

Since my wife's iPad works fine, I am wondering if mine is faulty, but since it seems to work pretty much everywhere else, I have no idea what the problem is. but it is driving me crazy!!!

Any help appreciated.

Hello, I'm having the same problem at my hotel, which also uses nomadix.com's login system (and router?).

I initially thought it might be the iPad's DHCP bug. But after resetting network settings, turning wifi on/off, resetting the iPad, etc. nothing works.

On my MacBook Pro, I can log on without any problems. The iPad logon problem appears to be linked to the nomadix login screen, ie what happens when you've entered the user and password and click on the login button. On the MBP, a pop-up showing elapsed time comes up. On the iPad, nothing.

I've tried reaching nomadix's tech support but no reply.

I wish Apple would fix this. Even if they are technically right (ie, they're using the latest protocols, 802.11n definition, etc.) what we want as users is simply for wifi access to work, even if the router's buggy. Is that too much to ask?

I'm having the same problem with the iPad connecting to a Nomadix Airport Wireless network. Well, actually that isn't quite true. It connects to the network just fine, but it won't get past the login page (same as ilovetablat) so you never get Internet. You see I work for the company that installed / setup the Nomadix box in the wireless network. When I called them they were no help what-so-ever.
I have tried Resetting every device in the network (including the iPad), toggling all the iPad network settings, tinkering with the Nomadix settings, using both a DHCP and manual network settings, and I put a known External IP address in Safari (instead of URL) thinking it might be a DNS problem, but nothing seems to work. I ran some test and found I'm connected to the network. I can use VNC to connect to other desktop PC's. I can ping inside and outside the network to a Yahoo IP address, but still no Internet access. The login page is definitely the failure point I just can't figure out why. And if that wasn't odd enough I happen to own a Apple Airport Express Wireless router. So I plugged it into the wired network and connected the iPad to the Apple wireless network. When I launched Safari it brought up the Nomadix Airport wireless login page and it worked! No problem went right thru to the preconfigured home page and I was able to use the Internet.
Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for your email. I do not know if this was the problem, but I was able to fix it by doing a complete settings reset on the iPad. If a full reset turns off the autofill, it might be linked, but I cannot tell now as it is a over one week ago.

I am not sure whether the problem is related to the iPad or to Nomadix, but I only ever had the problem at this one hotel and after the reset it was fine.

Unfortunately, I tried turning off the Auto fill already, but it still didn't get past the login page. And performing a reset on the iPad didn't work either. I'm pretty sure it's a Nomadix problem, but when I called they were next to useless. They informed me support for the "Access Gateway 3000" was ending very soon and didn't offer any help except to say they thought the problem might be connected to the Java Script that runs on the Login page (yes, already tried turning off Java Script on the iPad 🙂. I'll be onsite again tomorrow and I have a couple of settings changes on the Nomadix that I'm going to try.

Well, I'm the most suffered guy on earth with the WiFi connections , tried all solutions with my own wireless router, nothing helped.

From setting the IP / DNS manually , changing the pass encryption, adjusting the brightness (lol) , configuring 'all' routers settings, Updated the iPad to the latest version , and with all this, the results were = BOOM , 0 , zero , nothing. while my router works fine with all other devices on home, 4 laptops , 3 mobile phones.

But anyway, I knew the solution, which is that the iPad, some of them to be honest, DOESNT work on all WiFi networks, Even if there were no problem with them. The problem is with the iPad. Not all the solutions help, nothing worked with me. Changing the whole Router and WiFi Internet provider will work on the iPad.

YES, the iPad WiFi came like this. APPLE didn't work that good on the WiFi. Don't get a headache by trying everything, yes, It's a production 'error'.

Test your iPad on another WiFi network. If it works OK there then there is a problem with your home network DESPITE some other devices appearing to work with it (not all devices use the whole of the 802.11x standards). If your iPad doesn't work on another network then it likely has a problem and should be replaced/repaired.

Note that just because you are having a problem with your iPad on your network does not imply that all iPads have problems with WiFi. Remember around 8,000,000 iPads are out there now and are not experiencing WiFi problems.

WiFi is a tricky area. Many WiFi problems can be tracked down to failing, misconfigured, obsolete, or buggy routers. Check to make sure that any router you are using has the latest manufacturer's firmware.

Well this isn't much help but I note the date of your post as 2010 and I am now at the end of 2014 and still having the same problem! Well done Apple for producing a pretty sleek and stylish piece of useless equipment! in total contrast my bulky but reliable Lenovo laptop works perfectly in every hotel around the world!
