Internet Explorer 8 on OSX

Hi All,

I'm trying to open a page for my work on Safari and Firefox, but I couldn't and it says I need to have IE8 to open it appropriately. I tried to find IE8 to download it on my Macbook Pro but it is not working or it's not supporting. Please, is there any way that I can download it and run it without any problems. Thank you.

Microsoft hasn't made a version of Internet Explorer for Mac for quite a while now. There are a few Wine projects that allow you to run IE5, IE6 or IE7. (I could get IE5 and IE6 to work, but couldn't get IE7 to work.) No IE8 that I've seen. In general, if you must go to a IE-only site, then unfortunately you need Windows. Which means you need Windows in Boot Camp, virtual machine or (gasp) a separate PC. 😟

There are two possible reasons IE8 is needed. First, the web site was created by an idiot who doesn't recognize or care that any other browser exists. Unlikely these days but it still does happen. Second, and more likely to be the case, the web site uses Microsoft technology (ActiveX controls and/or .net) which is available only to Windows computers running IE. If this is the case you'll have no choice but access this web site from a computer running Windows. I have one lousy web site I must access that is like this and I run WinXP via Parallels Desktop to access it.
