Do I NEED Credit Card For iTunes Account?

I just got my iPod touch last night and my son is helping me set up my iTunes account and it says I need to have a credit card on file. Is there anyway I can not put a credit card before getting apps?

You can use an iTunes gift card to create an account. See this -> iTunes Store: How to redeem an iTunes Gift Card

You can also create an account without a card and use it for free apps and artwork. See this -> Create an iTunes App Store account without a credit card
Pay attention to step 4 "Important: Before proceeding to the next step, you must purchase a free application by clicking 'Free App'."
