About to try it with my MiFi 2200 on Verizon. It certainly should work. The upside is that you can get wifi to multiple devices with one acct. A potential downside might be that rather than the $30/mo unlimited AT&T acct you have a $60/mo 5GB unlimited Verizon acct unless you are fortunate enough to have one of the grandfathered unlimited Verizon $60/mo plans (I do).

I use MyWi on my iPhone 3GS to turn it into a mobile hotspot and connect my iPad Wifi to it.

Works great and for me is the better choice over the iPad 3G because of the following reasons:

- iPad Wifi is less expensive than the 3G model
- battery on the wifi model lasts longer
- I can use my iPhone's 3G data plan instead of purchasing a SECOND one just for the iPad
- as the iPad is connected to the iPhone via Wifi, all wifi-only stuff works on the road.

Slightly off topic because it's not a MiFi, but I wanted to mention that I use the WiFi Hotspot from my Palm Pre Plus without any problems so far. And Verizon now gives the ability for free as opposed to spending $50 a month for it (Mobile Broadband Wi-Fi like the MiFi uses) as before (it's included with the regular data plan, $30 a month, which you have to buy with the phone anyway). It's hard to say, but with the difference in cost between a 3G and Wi-Fi only iPad, it will take me several months to "break even" on what it would have cost to get the more expensive 3G iPad. And if you consider I would still be paying for data on the phone anyway, and never paying AT&T for 3G, I am saving money forever.

I do the same thing With mywi on my 3GS iPhone. my wifi only iPad works great around the house when I step out on our patio that is about 40 to 50 feet from wireless g router it will go down to 1 to 2 bars but my Internet speed don't seem to change so every now and them when i'm outside on my porchI will turn on mywi on my 3GS and I will have 3bars other than that I have had no other issues with my iPad!I love it!
The other day I bought another router to replace my g band with a N router I heard that they have a longer range.

It's especially nonsensical to purchase yet another AT&T 3G data plan when there isn't 3G coverage on their crappy network in much of the country.

I bought an iPhone 3GS despite the fact there is no AT&T 3G coverage in my area (Verizon has 3G here, though), but there's no way I'll give another penny I don't have to. I can't wait until iPhone is available on another network.

As it is, I bought a wi-fi iPad, and plan to use Verizon for data if I find that I need a mobile plan.

I have been using the Virgin Mobile MiFi device with my iPad (WiFi) here in Australia since I got it from the states a month ago. There are many advantages, including connecting multiple wifi devices on one access point and data plan. This is great for work and being on the road. Also using the microSD port to easily expand the storage space at hand.

While the mifi is quick to turn on and connect (less then 30 seconds), and the battery power is decent (4hrs at least), it is very occasional IE when away from regular wifi signal and wanting to connect, you ask yourself if it's worth connecting just to google something. For these immediate demands I just use the iPhone. Generally, it's worth connecting the mifi if it's worth getting the iPad out.

I recommend this device where...
You need to connect multiple devices online (or to each other) on the go
You really don't want another data plan for a single device
You plan on upgrading devices often, or only holding onto them for short periods.
You already have wide access to wifi (home, work, etc)
