What does the half-blue dot symbol mean?

I rip DVDs via HandBrake onto my MacBook desktop, and then drag it into my iTunes movie category.

The movies in my iTunes have a blue dot symbol next to each one. Sometimes the blue dots are half blue/half white, while some are all blue. It is obviously an indicator of some type, but of what?
