Contacts disappeared from iphone

All my contacts have disappeared from my iphone. I think it is because I deleted my mobile me account from my iphone.
I signed up to mobile me for the 60 day free trial, which has now come to an end, I hadn't really invested time to set it up properly for all the benefits so decided to cancel my subscription until I had the time.
So this morning I deleted the mobile me account from my mail and since then all my contacts have disappeared.
Does anyone know how I can get them back?
I have a MAC at home - if I sync my iphone will all the contacts come back?? The only problem is I won't be home for a couple of days and I really need those numbers back ASAP!
Any help appreciated!

Thanks

The contacts should remain in the Address Book on your Mac.

When syncing contacts over the air with a MobileMe account or with an Exchange account, if you delete the account on your iPhone, the contacts on the server are no longer available for access with your iPhone. The contacts are not stored locally. I you turn contacts off for over the air syncing instead and before deleting the account, you are provided an option to store the contacts locally on your iPhone.

You will have to wait to sync contacts direct with the Address Book on your Mac via the iTunes sync process, and the same for calendar events.

I synch'd my iPhone 3GS with Outlook via USB with no problems. Tried MobileMe, but could not see value of spending $100 so removed account. Did not have option to store address book and calendar before removing MobileMe from phone, so lost all. As they are all still on my Outlook I wasn't too perturbed, but now cannot get the phone and Outlook to synch via USB. Have reinstalled iTunes, no joy. Had to get the contacts to the phone using Gmail, but have not been able to synch to Outlook at all. Any suggestions?
